Sony presents new TVs, soundbars and speakers

In 2024, Sony wants to enrich your living room with brand new technology. The Japanese tech group is planning new products for its popular Bravia lineup. This includes not only new televisions, but also matching audio products for the right sound.

Sony Bravia 9 – flagship TV not with OLED

The Bravia 9 is the flagship of Sony’s upcoming TV line-up and will be available with a screen diagonal of either 75 or 85 inches. It is interesting to note that Sony is not using OLED for its flagship, but a QLED panel with mini-LEDs. The choice of panel can probably be attributed to the fact that the company clearly wants to focus on high brightness.

Thanks to High Peak Luminence, the Bravia 9 is said to be up to 50 percent brighter than the Sony Bravia X95L. Sony promises that the panel’s backlighting can be controlled in a targeted manner. In combination with the thousands of LEDs, this should conjure up the best possible contrasts on the screen.

Compared to the X95L, there should still be 325 percent more dimming zones, which should effectively prevent the problem of clouding. The integrated XR processor should in turn offer scene recognition and be able to optimize the image with a focus on maximum realism. Image optimization is also the focus when using the streaming services Netflix and Prime Video.

Suitable modes are designed to conjure up the best possible picture on the TV. The new lineup is rounded off with Bravia 8 and Bravia 7. While the Bravia 7, which is available in 55, 65, 75 and 85 inch sizes, also uses Mini LED, the Bravia 8 uses OLED. The Bravia with OLED panel will be available in 55, 65 and 77 inch sizes.

Bravia Theatre U creates cinema sound without annoying neighbors

Of course, the right soundscape is still missing for an impeccable home theater. And Sony has of course thought of this too. With the Theatre Bar 8 and 9, the tech company has not only presented two new soundbars that offer 13 and 11 speakers respectively in a very compact housing. If that’s not enough, the system can be expanded with additional speakers or subwoofers.

In addition, the Bravia Theatre Quad is a speaker system consisting of four stylish speakers. However, Bravia Theatre U is particularly exciting. This is a horseshoe-shaped speaker with a battery life of 12 hours. You can place it on the back of your neck and then simply connect it to your device via Bluetooth.

Then there is impeccable Dolby Atmos sound to the ears. But only to the ears of the wearer. After all, Sony promises that outsiders won’t notice the sound. This is practical in many respects.

With the Theatre U, you can watch an action movie loudly without headphones and without annoying the neighbors. It can also be used to enjoy a movie together, even if the requirements for the right volume level differ. A total of two different Theatre U units can be connected to one Bravia TV.

The soundbars and the speaker system also score points with features such as Voice Zoom 3, which uses AI to focus on the voice of the protagonists. As a result, dialog should be much easier to understand. You can also enjoy Dolby Atmos, dtsX and IMAX Enhanced.

Prices and availability

Sony seems to have armed itself against the competition from Samsung, LG and co. with promising new hardware. It remains to be seen whether the tech company can keep its promises. Meanwhile, there was no further information on prices and release dates. However, Sony will certainly provide more information soon.
