Steelseries Arctis 7+ and 7P+: New wireless headsets unveiled

Peripherals manufacturer Steelseries has announced the launch of its new Arctis 7+ and Arctis 7P+ wireless gaming headsets. Both new models rely on the iconic design of the Arctis series while aiming to impress with strong battery life and compelling sound.

The Arctis 7+ is a further development of the popular Arctis 7 gaming headset or the Arctis 7P (our review), where the battery life in particular has been improved. The headset now lasts for a full 30 hours in continuous use before the batteries have to be recharged.

Also new is the modernized USB-C charging port, complete with quick-charge function, which re-energizes the headset for three hours in just 15 minutes on power. A lightweight, steel-reinforced headband and a headband with a ski goggle head strap also keep the headset comfortable over time.

Steelseries relies on a lossless 2.4 GHz wireless connection with extremely low latency via USB-C dongle. At the same time, this makes the Arctis 7+ compatible with various platforms like PC, PlayStation 5, PS4, Mac, Android, Switch and the Oculus Quest 2.

In terms of sound, the manufacturer relies on the same high-quality speaker drivers as the Arctis 7, which come to a diameter of 40 mm and map a frequency response of 20-20,000 Hz at 32 ohms impedance. The handy headset control with ChatMix also returns.

Arctis 7+ owners get Early Access to SteelSeries Sonar, a brand-new audio software that enables 7.1 surround sound, ChatMix, and many more customization options. The Discord certified retractable ClearCast microphone with bidirectional design is said to provide crystal clear sound and effective noise cancellation.

With the name suffix P, the Arctis 7P+ Wireless is aimed primarily at PlayStation fans and is designed specifically for the powerful next-generation 3D audio on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Nevertheless, the wireless gaming headset is also compatible with PC, Mac, Android, Switch, and Oculus Quest 2 thanks to the USB-C dongle.

In doing so, the headset shares specs with the Arctis 7+ in terms of sound, battery life, design, and microphone, but is fully compatible with the PlayStation 5’s Tempest 3D Audio technology.
