The Asus ROG Strix Go 2.4 headset, which was already introduced in August 2019, has now finally gone on sale for around 200 euros. The headset can be connected via USB-C cable as well as via radio connection (2.4 GHz). As Asus explains, the ROG Strix Go 2.4 is the world’s first headset that offers this connection combination. In comparison to the much more widespread Bluetooth, the wireless connection is supposed to provide a better connection and less delay.
In addition, the unusual combination allows the connection to numerous devices, including smartphones, tablets, computers and consoles. Thanks to the USB-C port, even the Nintendo Switch can be used in mobile mode with the Asus ROG Strix Go 2.4.
The battery life of the headset is up to 25 hours. Should the power ever run out, just 15 minutes of charging time is sufficient to use the headset for another three hours. Gamers who use the ROG Strix Go 2.4 on the go will be especially pleased with the “AI Noise-Cancelling” feature, which is designed to filter out background noise from microphone recordings. Unfortunately, the headset from Asus doesn’t have any suppression of background noise during playback.
Two 40 mm drivers are responsible for the sound, which cover the frequency range of 20-20,000 Hz during wireless use. If the 3.5 mm jack plug, which is also present, is used, the frequency range increases to cover 20-40,000 Hz. The frequency range of the built-in and detachable microphones is 100-8,000 Hz. Some parts of the audible sound range are not covered by this.
