beyerdynamic Custom Game Headset Review: Is Expensive Equally Good?
In this test we cover the beyerdynamic Custom Game. Of course, in my opinion, a good headset should not be missing from video games nowadays. For example, surround headsets are very helpful in games like Counter-Strike, because you can hear from which direction the opponent is coming. But with this test the question arises: Is expensive also equally good? You can read about this in our test report.
Scope of Delivery
The beyerdynamic Custom Game comes with several items. One is the headset itself, the other is a replaceable “plate” for the ear cups and an AUX adapter for a jack connection.
Design
The design of the beyerdynamic Custom Game appeals to me personally. The headset is an ear-enclosing model that adapts perfectly after a few minutes. The beyerdynamic Custom Game is only available in black. On the outer ear cups there is a surface with the logo, which can be exchanged with different patterns. It comes with an Allen key and the exchangeable parts for the auricles. Unfortunately, the headset is only available in black, but it has many customization options.
Workmanship & Wearing Comfort
The workmanship of the beyerdynamic Custom Game is very good. With the Custom Game you can also adjust the height as it is usual with other headsets. However, at first I thought this was not possible because it was very difficult to make the headset larger. In addition, the headset has a temple that lies very comfortably on the head. Even after longer gaming sessions I could not notice any pressure pain or sweat. At the auricles you can adjust the intensity of the bass to your liking.
The headset shields outside noise without problems, and you can fully concentrate on the game.
The “custom” in the name stands for various things. First of all you can use different cables for the beyerdynamic Custom Game. As an example, the headset can be used without an eye-catching gooseneck microphone. A smartphone strip with a smaller cable remote control and an unobtrusive microphone can be purchased separately for 18 €.
The practical thing about the beyerdynamic Custom Game is that you can buy all parts separately. So you can easily replace the cables after a cable break. Beyerdynamic promises to keep enough spare parts for the custom game in stock for many years to come. Thanks to the headset’s different customization options, it definitely deserves the name “Custom”.
In addition, the Custom Game has a microphone remote control with which you can mute the microphone, make the sound softer/louder and a temporary mute on the PC or media control and call acceptance on the smartphone.
Sound Quality
The sound of the beyerdynamic Custom Game is very good. The sound is very good thanks to an individual bass setting that can be adjusted on the ear cups of the headset. In my opinion better than the previous headsets I had. I’m just absolutely thrilled here.
Recording Quality
The microphone quality of the beyerdynamic Custom Game is very good. For a headset at such a price you should be able to expect this. The voice comes across clearly and clearly. Here you can listen to a recording from the colleagues of technikblog.net.

Conclusion
The beyerdynamic Custom Game Headset leaves a good impression. The sound is very pleasant. What I find very positive is that you can adjust the bass to your own taste. The microphone quality also appeals directly to you. The voice is transmitted clearly and unambiguously, just as one would wish with such an expensive headset. The design is also very beautiful and appeals to me personally. Thanks to an included allen key and interchangeable parts for the outer ear cups, you can “design” the headset even more according to your taste.
The workmanship is also very good. The Custom Game looks very robust and resistant. So the headset can probably accompany you for several years without any problems.
I can definitely make a clear purchase recommendation for the beyerdynamic Custom Game. Here I can without doubt answer the question: “Is expensive, equals good” in the affirmative.

A great headset!
beyerdynamic has done almost everything right here. The sound is very good, the microphone is acceptable, you can hardly do anything wrong here. For those who want to "pimp" their headset a bit there is also something. I can recommend the beyerdynamic Custom Game.
