Surface Pro 10 und Surface Laptop 6 for Business vorgestellt

As expected, Microsoft unveiled the Surface Pro 10 and the Surface Laptop 6 for Business on March 21. Both devices should not only improve in terms of performance, but also score points for battery life, offer more connections and rely on AI functions.

Microsoft Surface Pro 10 in detail

Under the motto “a new era for work”, Microsoft has unveiled two new devices in the Surface family that will make extensive use of AI functions and its own Copilot. Both notebooks are equipped with the Copilot button, which we have already seen in the Medion E15443 (our test), although it has hardly fulfilled any function so far. Of course, this is set to change in the future.

Like its predecessors, the Surface Pro 10 for Business comes as a 2-in-1 convertible and has an all too familiar design. Under the hood is a processor from the Intel Meteor Lake series, either the Intel Core Ultra 5 135U or the Core Ultra 7 165U, which promise significantly more performance than the Cire i7-1265U of the predecessor model and also significantly improve AI performance.

Microsoft gives the convertible a meagre 8 GB of LPDDR5X RAM as standard, but up to 64 GB RAM is possible at the top end. Storage is provided by a 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB PCIe 4 SSD. The convertible has a 13-inch touch display with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,920 pixels and a dynamic frame rate of 120 Hz. It is also pleasantly bright at 600 nits.

The camera has also been improved and now has a resolution of 1440p and a wide field of view of 114 degrees. Windows Studio Effects should ensure that the person is always in the picture and the background is automatically blurred.

Microsoft has also given the Surface Pro 10 new ports. In addition to the Surface Connector port for charging, there are two Thunderbolt 4 ports with DisplayPort Alt mode and 45-watt charging function. An NFV module is also new, and a 5G modem is available for an extra charge.

According to Microsoft, the battery life should be a whopping 19 hours, while the accompanying dockable keyboard has larger keys and a brighter backlight in addition to the co-pilot key.

Surface Laptop 6 for Business

The situation is similar with the slim Surface Laptop 6 for Business, which comes with either a 13.5-inch or 15-inch touchscreen in 3:2 format, but is only 400 nits bright. The RAM and SSD configurations are identical and the battery life is also at a high level with 18.5 hours for the smaller notebook and 19 hours for the 15-inch model.

The CPUs of the Meteor Lake H series promise more performance, here the Core Ultra 5 135H or the Ultra 7 165 H, which have more cores, higher clock rates and a higher TDP than the U variants in the Surface Pro 10. This should also make the Surface Laptop 6 for Business suitable for more demanding applications such as Photoshop & Co.

On the other hand, the devices are pleasantly compact with dimensions of 340 mm x 244 mm x 16.9 mm (15 inches) and 308 mm x 223 mm x 16.7 mm (13.5 inches). The weight of 1.68 kg and 1.38 kg also speaks in favor of mobility.

A new 1080p camera should be able to improve image quality based on AI functions with Microsoft Studio Effects. Microsoft also promises two studio-quality microphones, Omnisonic speakers with Dolby Atmos and support for Bluetooth LE Audio.

In addition to the Surface Connect port, the 13.5-inch notebook comes with one Thunderbolt 4 port, one USB-A 3.1 port and a 3.5 mm jack. The 15-inch model also comes with an additional Thunderbolt 4 port.

Prices and availability

Microsoft Surface Pro 10 andSurface Laptop 6 can be pre-ordered now and will be delivered from April 9, 2024. Prices start from 1,399.00 euros. Microsoft has not yet announced when the end customer devices for private users will follow. However, according to rumors, these will also come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X ARM chip in the summer.
