The quasi-successor to the Dell XPS 13 (9340), which we were able to test ourselves just a few days ago, relies on a new tandem OLED display, which was previously only used in the new Apple iPad Pro and the Honor Magic6 RSR Porsche Design. Dell has now confirmed this to TheVerge editor Tom Warren(via X).

It promises significantly higher peak brightness with lower power consumption and a longer service life. The display comes from LG Display and, according to Dell’s product website, should be up to 500 nits bright, which corresponds to the brightness of the XPS 13 (9340), which however relies on an IPS panel.

For comparison: The iPad Pro achieves up to 1,600 nits when displaying HDR content, and 1,000 nits typical brightness.

Qualcomm’s new ARM chip Snaodragon X Elite in the X1E-80-100 variant is used as the processor, which has 2 processing cores and up to 4 GHz. 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM with 8448 MT/s and a 512 GB SSD are offered, but Dell’s typical upgrade options are apparently not available here.

The rest of the equipment is largely identical to the current XPS 13: Two USB-C ports including Thunderbolt 4, four speakers with a total of 8 watts of power and a 55 Wh battery can be found in the 14.8 mm high and 1.18 kg light notebook. The battery life is said to be up to 27 hours.

Additional AI functions that are inherent to the Microsoft Copilot+ PCs are also included. The XPS 13 (9345) has also inherited the touch function bar and the invisible trackpad.

Price and availability

The new Dell XPS 13 (9345) starts at prices from 1,299 US dollars directly from the manufacturer. Then, however, in the Full HD version. There are currently no details on the price of the OLED model.
