TeamGroup QX: SSD with 15.3 TB and juicy price introduced

TeamGroup has introduced the first SSD with 15.3 TB in the consumer segment. The TeamGroup QX SSD comes in a 2.5-inch format and with SATA III port. The price set for it is however not from bad parents.

TeamGroup QX: Features of the SSD

SSDs with 15 TB and more were previously not intended for the consumer sector, but only for businesses. The QX SSD is offered in the traditional 2.5-inch form factor and is one of the first consumer SSDs to offer as much storage space of 15.36 TB as is already available in the enterprise segment. A 3D SQLC flash memory is used with an SSD height of 7 mm. The lifespan is specified by TeamGroup as 2,560 TBW, which is at least 2,560 TB of write operations.

The read speed of the QX SSD should be 560 MB/s, while the write speed should reach 480 MB/s. The QX SSD provides support for Smart Dual Cache as well as SLC caching and DRAM cache buffers. TRIM is also to be supported. It is connected via a SATA III port. The operating temperature is 40 to 85 °C, with an average operating time of 1.5 million hours. The SSD itself should be shock-resistant and have low power consumption. TeamGroup also promises a factory-integrated algorithm to detect and reduce data garbage.

TeamGroup QX: Price and availability

The QX-SSD is offered by TeamGroup with immediate effect at a proud price of 3,990 US dollars. That is the equivalent of about 3,380 Euros. The price per terabyte is therefore about 221 Euro per terabyte. After all, a warranty of three years is still included. Whether the price for this exclusive SSD is worth it at all is probably left up to the individual. Cheaper alternatives can all be put together.
