Tesla Model Y: version with 600 km range launches in Germany

With around 1.23 million units sold, the Tesla Model Y is the best-selling electric car of 2023. Until now, however, the five-door model has only been available in Germany with rear-wheel and performance all-wheel drive. Tesla is now also launching the electric car in the “maximum range” variant in this country, which should enable ranges of up to 600 km.

Tesla Model Y Maximum Range launches in Germany

The Tesla Model Y is not really new, as the variant already existed in the USA. However, the variant with a maximum range of 600 km on rear-wheel drive is now also making it to Germany and Europe.

This is around 70 km more than the maximum range variant with all-wheel drive, which has a range of 533 km according to the WLTP. At 48,990 euros, the fourth model is priced between the rear-wheel drive (44,490 euros) and the Long Range AWD (54,990 euros).

The performance of the two rear-wheel drive models is also improved. The Long Range RWD variant accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and reaches speeds of up to 217 km/h at top speed. The sprint from a standstill is therefore 1.0 seconds faster than the rear-wheel drive Model Y.

Apart from the new combination of rear-wheel drive and larger battery, the Tesla Model Y offers no other new features. The price for the extras also remains the same. Those who prefer a car in blue, black, red or silver instead of the white color will have to pay an additional 1,300 euros or 2,600 euros. The 20-inch induction rims cost an extra €2,220 and reduce the range to 565 km.

The Enhanced Autopilot costs 3,800 euros, while the “Full potential for autonomous driving” including Enhanced Autopilot, traffic light and stop sign recognition costs an extra 7,500 euros. However, there are no changes to the design or new functions.

The new Tesla Model Y in the variant for maximum range on the rear axle can now be ordered from Tesla and is expected to be delivered in 2-4 weeks.
