Xiaomi SU7 Max: More range and better acceleration than Tesla Model 3

The surprise was huge when Xiaomi unveiled its first electric car, the SU7, at MWC 2024. And the interest was no less great, as demand is huge – the electric car was pre-ordered around 90,000 times on the very first day. According to initial practical tests, the Xiaomi SU7 Max is also technically impressive and beats the Tesla Model 3 in terms of range and acceleration.

Xiaomi is launching its first own electric car in two variants. Among other things, the Xiaomi SU7 Max uses two motors for better acceleration and a longer range. According to a report by CarNewsChina, the Chinese trade magazine Dongchendi has already been able to test the electric car, which is due to be delivered in April, and is impressed.

Although the Max model was not quite able to achieve the promised range of 810 km according to the Chinese CLTC test procedure, the result of 643 km was still quite impressive. So strong, in fact, that it was able to beat the Tesla Model 3 Highland (568 km) and the Nio ET5 (455 km).

It should be noted that none of the test participants achieved the specified range. But here too, the SU7 came out on top with around 80 percent of the stated range in reality. Tesla achieved around 79 percent and the ET5 72.6 percent of the stated 640 km. Only the Xpeng P7 came off slightly better with 80.2 percent (489 km instead of 610 km).

SU7 Max: also ahead in the acceleration test

The Xiaomi SU7 Max also came out on top in the acceleration test from a standstill to 100 km/h. the e-car needed 3.24 seconds for the sprint, the Tesla Model 3 LR finished in 4.62 seconds and the Nio ET5 LR in 3.83 seconds.

The result can be translated accordingly to the quarter-mile sprint. The SU7 won this with 11.17 seconds ahead of the Nio ET5 with 12.337 seconds and the Tesla Model 3 with 12.77 seconds. Xiaomi achieved a top speed of 201.79 km/h.

Xiaomi’s SU7 came out on top in all of the magazine’s tests. With a price of 215,900 yuan – 299,900 yuan (29,900 – 41,500 US dollars), it also starts at a lower price than its competitors from Tesla and Nio.
