Do you want a pair of new headphones for this year’s Christmas? Then Teufel might have good news for you. The renowned hi-fi company from Berlin has introduced two new models, the REAL BLUE and REAL BLUE NC, which you can get right now. We take a look at the two pairs of headphones.
Once with, once without ANC
The two new headphones are not only visually almost identical. They could also pass as clones in terms of features. Teufel promises here once again the best sound and the highest wearing comfort. The Berliners would also like to have placed great emphasis on ease of use thanks to intuitive controls.
But then there is a difference and you can already tell from the name. While you have to be satisfied with the normal REAL BLUE with the passive noise cancellation of headphones in over-ear design, the REAL BLUE NC also offer active noise cancellation.
Over-ear design for a feeling of being in the middle
Whether you prefer in-ear, on-ear or over-ear is, as so often in life, a matter of taste. What is certain is that over-ears can usually deliver the best sound thanks to large drivers. The REAL BLUE (NC) are also equipped with large drivers, which are supposed to score for a neutral sound with precise highs, balanced mids and powerful lows, according to Teufel. For individual adjustments, a handy app from Teufel is also available to you with the two newcomers. However, the design that surrounds the ears is not only supposed to ensure great sound, but also a high wearing comfort. According to Teufel, this is ensured first and foremost by wonderfully soft ear pads.
Since Teufel combines these with a high contact pressure, the perfect middle ground between comfort and a tight fit is said to have been found. Even wearers of glasses should be able to strike without hesitation with the two new additions to the Berlin sound forge. A high level of wearing comfort naturally invites you to listen to music for hours on end. So that the battery doesn’t throw a spanner in the works, Teufel gives both headphones a long-lasting battery. The REAL BLUE NC should have a battery life of more than 40 hours even with ANC turned on – according to Teufel’s factory specifications. That would be a really impressive value in the ANC headphones segment.
Active noise cancellation in the REAL BLUE NC
Anyone who is annoyed by the sheer volume of the urban jungle or can’t find a quiet minute in the home office probably appreciates hardly any feature as much as active noise cancellation. Teufel relies on so-called hybrid noise cancelling for its REAL BLUE NC. This uses microphones on both the outside and inside of the headphones.
Their task is to create a counter-sound for the outside noise. As befits modern ANC headphones, the REAL BLUE NC can also use its microphones in reverse. Namely, in the form of the transparency mode. This amplifies external noise and passes it on to the wearer. For announcements at the airport or the train station, this is worth its weight in gold.
Control via joystick
The operation of the headphones takes place at the ear cup. Here you have access to a joystick, which should prove to be a universal input tool. In addition to controlling playback, it is also possible to open the common voice assistants here. Of course, you can also make phone calls with the REAL BLUE (NC). Phone calls are also controlled via this element. By the way, they are supposed to score with a high voice quality. This is possible thanks to the cVc technology from Qualcomm.
