vivo V23 5G: New smartphone with focus on selfie cameras

The new mid-range smartphone vivo V23 5G is primarily aimed at selfie fans. Two cameras including a “Spotlight” LED light for better illumination are used on the front. However, the rest of the features are also impressive.

vivo V23 5G: All features at a glance

The most important unique selling point of the vivo V23 5G marks the selfie camera setup. This is because the manufacturer relies on an eye-catching display notch that is strongly reminiscent of the iPhone 13. It contains two cameras including “Spotlight” LED lights. They allow adjusting the heat in different shades of white and are supposed to improve the picture quality of selfies.

The two selfie cameras of the V23 5G are a 50-megapixel main camera with autofocus, as well as a super wide-angle camera with a resolution of 8 megapixels, which has a field of view of 105 degrees.

On the rear, a triple camera setup is used. It consists of a main camera with 64 megapixels, a super wide-angle camera with 8 megapixels and a small macro camera lens with 2 megapixels. The manufacturer does not give details about the aperture or the other functions.

6.4 inch display

Furthermore, the vivo V23 5G relies on a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels (Full HD+), as well as a maximum frame rate of 90 hertz. A Mediatek Dimensity 920 SoC with a maximum clock rate of 2.5 GHz and 5G support works inside the smartphone.

According to the manufacturer, the battery capacity is 4,200 mAh, and it charges quickly with a maximum of 44 watts. The chip is supported by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of system storage. Unfortunately, the latter cannot be expanded.

An exciting design detail: The back of the V23 5G is made of reactive glass that can change its color under the influence of UV light. However, this is only the case for the gold version; the black smartphone, which is also offered, does not have a color-changing back. Further specifications have not yet been revealed by vivo.

The dimensions are 157.20 x 72.42 x 7.39 mm for the black model, while the Sunshine Gold color scheme is a bit thicker with a depth of 7.55 mm. A few grams also separate the two colors in terms of weight (179 g in Black, 181 g in Gold).

Price and availability

The vivo V23 5G smartphone should be available in Germany from March 30, 2022. The manufacturer’s RRP is around 550 euros.
