VW ID.3 GTX: Pre-ordering begins

Not only VW fans know that the abbreviation GTI stands for sporty driving pleasure in vehicles from the traditional Wolfsburg manufacturer. And now also with an electric motor. However, the abbreviation has been slightly changed here. You can now also get the VW ID.3 in the GTX sports version.

VW ID.3 gets sports version

VW is broadening the range of its popular ID.3(official announcement). With Pure, Pro and GTX, the all-electric Volkswagen is now available in a total of three new versions. With the Pure equipment line, there is a new basic model that comes with a 52 kWh battery and offers an output of 125 kW. The range of 390 km is not ground-breaking, but should be perfectly adequate for daily city driving. VW specifies a maximum charging speed of 145 kW.

The Pro version is much sportier. Here, an output of up to 170 kW is possible. This results in acceleration from 0 to 100 in just 6.6 seconds. The 59 kWh battery has a range of 434 km. There is also more charging power than in the Pure version. Up to 165 kW is possible. This also beats the previous Pro model, which allows a maximum of 120 kW. But the big surprise is the new VW ID.3 GTX.

This puts the Pro version in the shade once again. The powerful drive is said to offer an output of 210 kW. In combination with the torque of 545 Nm, this enables a sprint from 0 to 100 in 5.9 seconds. However, the GTX is not exactly aimed at sprinters. After all, VW has capped the top speed of the all-electric speedster at 180 km/h. This ensures that it should have a range of 604 km despite its powerful engine. Charging takes place with up to 185 kW.

Changes to the interior too

However, the VW ID.3 has not only been upgraded in terms of performance. A few technical changes have also been made to the interior. You now get a 13-inch infotainment display. This should not only provide a better overview, but also iron out weaknesses in operating comfort.

The battery can also be preconditioned via the control unit or app control. This should ensure a shorter charging stop. As a new option, you can now also choose a sound system from Harman Kardon.

Prices and availability

Volkswagen is carrying out a commendable model upgrade of its popular VW ID.3. The three new equipment lines are available to order now. The base price for the VW ID.3 Pure is 37,000 euros. The ID.3 Pro, on the other hand, costs only slightly more at 40,000 euros. The VW ID.3 GTX, for which VW would like to charge around 51,000 euros in the base version, is significantly more expensive.
