Cadillac Lyriq: US manufacturer presents E-SUV

When it comes to environmentally friendly vehicles, Cadillac is not exactly a prime example. This is now set to change with the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq. According to the manufacturer, the massive e-SUV is also set to be launched in Europe.

Cadillac Lyriq wants to conquer the European market

Cadillac brand vehicles are an absolute rarity on the roads of Germany and Europe. This is also reflected in the US manufacturer’s sobering sales figures in our region. However, the company now wants to become a global big player. Also with an electric motor. The Cadillac Lyriq is intended to help with this.

This is a massive and not exactly inexpensive E-SUV, which at first glance seems a little oversized for narrow European parking lots and roads. This is made clear by the technical data. The vehicle weighs in at an impressive 2.8 tons and is just under 5 meters long. The lavish equipment typical of the US is likely to be a selling point.

No dual engine

The Cadillac Lyriq is expected to come with an output of around 388 kW. There is “only” one drive in each of the two available equipment lines. It is a shame that Cadillac does not at least offer a sports version with drives on both axles.

However, with acceleration from 0 to 100 in 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h, very few people will need it. The 102 kWh battery should then be able to carry the massive E-SUV a maximum of 530 km. As with the performance, the range is also based on temporary measurements from parent company General Motors.

Cadillac will certainly let us know what the official data will look like in the end. If the battery is empty, it should be possible to charge it via alternating current with up to 22 kW. However, 190 kW should be possible via the fast charger with direct current.

Price and availability

Both available versions come virtually fully equipped. The manufacturer only wants to charge extra for the paintwork and the optional trailer coupling. So you can expect a base price of 80,500 euros. If you want, you can already put together your own dream Cadillac Lyriq in the configurator. If you are interested, you can even pre-order the E-SUV. Deliveries to the European market are scheduled to begin next summer.
