Wharfedale ELYSIAN: New high-end loudspeakers ELYSIAN 1 and ELYSIAN Center presented

The British traditional manufacturer Wharfedale adds two new speakers to its exquisite ELYSIAN series: ELYSIAN 1 expands the portfolio with a more compact two-way model, while ELYSIAN Center represents a full-range center speaker for the highest home theater demands.

Featuring Wharfedale’s proprietary Air Motion Transformer, proprietary SLPP bass reflex system, and premium piano lacquer finishes, both new models offer the same incorruptible performance as the renowned, award-winning ELYSIAN 2 and ELYSIAN 4 loudspeakers. For optimal decoupling from the floor, the manufacturer offers in each case custom-fit stands.

With the two-way model ELYSIAN 1 as well as ELYSIAN Center, Wharfedale expands its reference series and takes into account the desire for a more compact model as well as the increasing demand for audiophile home theater systems.

ELYSIAN 1 with 7-inch woofer

Wharfedale’s ELYSIAN 1 joins the award-winning ELYSIAN 2 and ELYSIAN 4 with a smaller sister model that, regardless of its more compact two-way design, makes no compromises in terms of performance.

The specially developed 7-inch bass speaker is equipped with a fiberglass matrix cone and a highly effective drive unit and, together with the innovative SLPP (Slot-Loaded Profiled Port) bass reflex design, ensures powerful bass reproduction up to 49 Hertz, which had previously been virtually unattainable with compact speakers.

The crossover has been optimized in countless listening tests and ensures a seamless transition between the bass chassis and the precise air-motion transformer of the high frequency range known from the larger ELYSIAN models.

With ELYSIAN Center, Wharfedale proves that home theater and audiophile sound quality need not be a contradiction. With two 8.5-inch bass drivers, a 6-inch midrange driver and an air motion transformer for the high frequency range, the new center speaker shares the speaker lineup with the reference model EYLSIAN 4.

The aim is to offer particularly lively highs, precise bass down to 27 Hertz and outstanding dynamics. Even though ELYSIAN Center is a full-blown full-range speaker, the horizontal arrangement of the individual drivers ensures a low-profile design that integrates seamlessly into a home theater environment without obstructing the view of the screen.

Wharfedale ELYSIAN focus on noble design

The rounded design of the cases of the ELYSIAN loudspeakers also illustrates the consistent high-end orientation of the series, as the elaborate construction entails a production time of several days – for each individual loudspeaker. The shape not only contributes to a noble appearance, but also has significant acoustic advantages: The lack of parallel walls avoids cabinet resonances and thus ensures an even more linear and relaxed sound image.

The surfaces of all ELYSIAN transducers are finished in exclusive four-layer piano lacquer. Available in a choice of high-gloss white, black or walnut, they blend seamlessly into any living environment and underscore their owner’s exquisite taste.

Wharfedale’s new ELYSIAN 1 and ELYSIAN Center loudspeakers are available now from select retailers. The recommended retail prices including VAT are 3,690.00 euros each for the ELYSIAN 1 in a pair, or 3,990.00 euros in the case of the ELYSIAN Center.
