Workstation for beginners from Dell: Precision 3561

Dell has unveiled its new model in the mobile workstation entry, the Precision 3561, which scores with an Intel Tiger Lake-H processor and an Nvidia graphics card.

Numerous options for processor and graphics

With the Dell Precision 3561, there’s also a lot of choice for entry-level users in terms of processor. Now, the version of the Precision that builds on the 3560 is equipped with the new powerful Intel Tiger Lake-H processors, which means significantly more performance comes across. Intel Core i5-11400H, Core i5-11500H vPro, Core i7-11800H, Core i7-11850H vPro, Core i9-11950H vPro and finally Xeon W-11855M are available.

In terms of graphics, the Dell Precision 3561 offers a choice between the Intel Iris Xe, the Nvidia T600 and the Nvidia T1200 GPU. In terms of memory, up to 64GB of DDR4-3200 is possible. The storage options can also be selected differently, so up to 2 TB SATA HDD, up to 2 TB via M.2 PCIe 3.0 SSD or up to 2 TB via M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD can be configured. The manufacturer is even flexible when it comes to the operating system and offers Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Home, RHEL 8.2 or Ubuntu 20.04 here.

Large selection for the display

Not only with the CPU, but also with the display there is a large variety, so the Precision 3561 can be configured with a simple HD display, which reproduces a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels, a Full HD display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels with and without touch or a UHD display with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels.

Externally and also in terms of connectivity, nothing changes compared to the Precision 3560, but the performance is significantly better. The 3561 thus has two Thunderbolt 4, two USB-A 3.2 (Gen 1), one HDMI 2.0 and one RJ45 Ethernet port. Additionally, an SD card reader is available. Wireless is provided via Qualcomm Wi-Fi 5, Intel Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and Intel XMM 7360 LTE.

In the smallest configuration, the Dell Precision starts with a weight of 1.79 kg. The dimensions of the workstation are 357.8mm x 233.3mm x 22.67 – 24.05mm. There are also different battery versions to choose from. From a 64 Wh battery up to a 97 Wh battery. There is also a three-year warranty for all versions.

Security and management in corporate environments are top priorities here, as with the other workstations, so Dell Optimizer for Precision with AI support for reporting and analysis is also used. Dell Security Management and the fingerprint sensor round out the security package.
