ZTE Blade A72 5G: mid-range smartphone launches for under 200 euros

With the ZTE Blade A72 5G, the manufacturer releases a quite exciting mid-range smartphone at a low price. For less than 200 Euros, the device comes up with 5G compatibility, a triple camera and a 6.52-inch 90 Hz display.

The ZTE Blade A72 5G in detail

The new ZTE Blade A72 offers fast 5G connectivity at an affordable price. According to its own statement, it is one of the few companies on the smartphone market to present a powerful 5G mobile device in the price segment below 200 euros.

The Blade uses the octa-core CPU MediaTek Dimensity 700, which consists of two ARM Cortex A76 with a clock rate of 2.2 GHz and six ARM Cortex A55 cores with 2.0 GHz each. It is supported by 4+2 GB of working memory and 64 GB of internal storage. Fortunately, the latter can be expanded by up to 1 TB thanks to a microSD card.

Thanks to Memory Fusion technology, 2 GB of the free system memory can be redirected to the 4 GB working memory to increase the smartphone’s performance. ZTE specifies a battery capacity of 4,000 mAh, which is supposed to be enough for up to 22 hours of talk time in the 5G network. Charging is exclusively via USB Type-C. However, the manufacturer does not provide any information about the charging speed.

The ZTE Blade A72 5G measures 164.1 mm x 75.5 mm x 9.2 mm and weighs 182 grams. A 6.52-inch waterdrop display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz is installed. Furthermore, a 3.5 mm jack input is offered for connecting headphones – which has rarity value nowadays.

The cameras of the Blade A72 5G

On the rear, the Blade A72 5G relies on an AI triple camera setup, which consists of a main camera including 13 megapixels of resolution, as well as two 2-MP sensors. Videos are thus possible in Full HD quality at most.

The front-facing camera is located at the upper edge of the screen in a “water drop”. It has a maximum resolution of 5 megapixels and should not be impressive. At least the manufacturer promises various photo modes like night, portrait, bokeh, vlog modes and a macro mode.

Wirelessly, the Blade communicates in WIFI 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac standard, as well as via Bluetooth 5.1. NFC, however, does not seem to be supported by the smartphone according to official product website. The in-house MiFavor 11 based on Android 11 is used as the operating system.

Price and availability

The ZTE Blade A72 5G is available in stores now in blue and gray. The MSRP is 199.90 euros. Media Markt and Saturn already list the smartphone for 199.00 Euros, but only in the gray variant.
