ASUS launches compact AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT(X) with only 2 fans

If you are looking for innovative graphics cards, you need to take a closer look at the models from ASUS. Following the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super BTF without a power cable, the manufacturer is now launching the top AMD Radeon RX 7900XT and Radeon RX 7900XTX models in a particularly compact design with just two fans.

ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition with only two fans

High-end graphics cards such as the AMD Radeon RX 7900XT and Radeon RX 7900XTX need to be well cooled. However, particularly bulky custom designs take up a lot of space and by no means fit into every case.

ASUS now wants to change this and, after the RX 7900 GRE, is now also launching the two RDNA 3 top models from AMD in a compact form with just two fans. The ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition and ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7900 XT OC Edition, as the GPUs are called, rely on just two fans.

This gives the graphics cards a size of 323 x 147 x 58 mm, making them 1-2 centimeters thinner and in some cases even up to 30 centimeters shorter than other GPUs with the same chip. The PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 XTX Hellhound, for example, measures 338 mm x 127 mm x 62 mm. With a thickness of just under three slots, the new ASUS cards are among the most compact AMD GPUs.

Of course, there are no concrete details on cooling performance yet. However, ASUS promises impressive cooling performance thanks to the use of two axial fans and innovative technologies. A 0dB mode is also offered, in which the fans stand still when the GPU temperature is below 55°C.

Clock rates and memory

The ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition uses 24 GB of GDDR6 VRAM and 6,144 streaming processors in accordance with AMD’s specifications. In standard mode, it clocks up to 2,525 MHz in boost and 2,330 MHz in game mode, while in OC mode it reaches 2,615 MHz / 2,455 MHz.

The ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7900 XT OC Edition, on the other hand, comes with 20 GB of VRAM, 5,376 stream processors and clock rates of 2,450 MHz / 2,075 MHz and 2,535 MHz / 2,175 MHz in OC mode.

Both GPUs rely on one HDMI 2.1 and three DisplayPort 2.1 connections and three 8-pin connectors for the power supply. Discreet RGB lighting is also provided. The ASUS GPU Tweak III software can be used to call up information on temperatures and clock rates and adjust frequencies or voltage.

Prices and availability

However, Asus has not yet provided details on availability and prices. Additional details can be found on the official websites of the ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition and ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7900 XT OC Edition.
