15.6-inch Laptop XMG Pro 15 Comes with Nvidia RTX Graphics

The German notebook manufacturer Schenker Technologies from Leipzig has just introduced the latest offshoot of its gaming series XMG. The new XMG Pro 15 (version E19) is the first laptop in the series in the compact 15.6-inch format. As a special highlight, the laptop shines with the recently introduced Nvidia RTX graphics chips. In addition, there is also a keyboard with RGB lighting and a significantly improved cooling system for the high-performance components on board.

Positioning Between Ultrabook and Gaming Laptop

The XMG Pro models are between gaming ultrabooks and desktop replacement laptops in terms of mobility and performance. With a weight of 2.5 kg, they are not among the lightest devices on the market, but you can still take them with you every day without any problems. Schenker has thus succeeded in creating a compromise between maximum mobility and high performance for the XMG Pro model series and at the same time installing a cooling system that allows the components to be operated without throttling in the long term.

Despite the compact case of 35.9 x 25.8 x 2.99 cm, the XMG Pro 15 has two separate cooling zones for the graphics card and the processor, each with its own fan.

Components from Intel and Nvidia

Schenker relies exclusively on Intel processors and Nvidia graphics cards for the components. Customers can choose between the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GByte) and the GeForce RTX 2070 (8 GByte). Both graphics cards are built into the powerful Max-P design, which offers significant performance advantages over the Max-Q design commonly used in laptops. The processor used is the Intel Core i7 8750H with six cores (2.2 GHz clock, 4.1 GHz turbo). A maximum of 64 GByte RAM is possible. SSDs can be installed via two M.2 slots and one 2.5-inch slot.

As a special feature, the laptop offers the so-called MUX switch with which you can switch between the power-saving Optimus display mode and the gaming mode with activated Nvidia G-SYNC. In Optimus mode, the Intel onboard GPU is used instead of the dedicated Nvidia graphics card to increase battery life. The Full HD display (1,920 x 1,080) with 144 Hz should also satisfy even the most demanding gamers.

RGB Keyboard Illumination

As is currently the case with gaming devices, the XMG Pro 15 also has a standard RGB illumination of the keyboard, which can be controlled separately for each key. In addition, the laptop supports freely programmable macros and the pressure point of the keyboard should be specially optimized for players. To log in to Windows, a fingerprint sensor is integrated in the touchpad, which lights up as soon as a fingerprint scan is required.

Numerous Connection Options

The connection options of the XMG Pro 15 also give no cause for complaint. There are three external USB type A and two USB-Tyc-C ports, one of which also serves as a Thunderbolt interface. The USB type C ports can also be used to connect external monitors thanks to DisplayPort support. In addition, there is a Mini-DisplayPort with G-SYNC and an HDMI port, two jack plugs for speakers and a microphone and Gigabit LAN as well as a memory card reader.

The XMG Pro 15 can be ordered now. The basic configuration with the Intel Core i7 8750H, 8 GB RAM and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 as well as a 256 GB Samsung SSD costs 1,799 Euros. Delivery will start at the end of February. Customers who order directly from Schenker receive a 36-month manufacturer’s warranty. Over the next few weeks, the XMG Pro 17 will also follow, with a 17.3-inch display and no other differences in features. Also the XMG NEO 15 will soon receive an update to the new Nvidia RTX graphics chips. In addition, the XMG NEO also introduces a version with a 17-inch display for the first time.
