Many experts see the e-bike as a key to a successful traffic turnaround. After all, motorized two-wheelers enable fast cycling without the need for strenuous pedaling. On top of that, you can use them to skilfully avoid the traffic jams that car drivers are inevitably confronted with in urban areas. So it’s hardly surprising that you’re encountering these electrifying bikes more and more frequently on German roads. With the ADO Air 28, a new crowdfunding project will be launched on Indiegogo in August. This apparently scores not only with performance, but also a modern design.
ADO Air 28: Driving pleasure on two wheels
Even at first glance, the ADO Air 28 scores points. Thus, it does not even let it shine through that it is a genuine e-bike. In view of the bulky models, which are partly brought by the competition in the trade, that is already remarkable. But according to the manufacturer, the e-bike also has a lot to offer in terms of technology. Since it is a crowdfunding project, it is hardly surprising that the developers have tinkered with their very own technology here.
More specifically, they have developed ADO G-Drive 5.0, a completely unique power transmission system. This is intended to provide a powerful as well as smooth riding experience. At the heart of the system is a carbon belt drive, which is supposed to offer a few small but subtle advantages over conventional chain systems. The most decisive is certainly the low weight. According to the manufacturer, it should be 36% lighter than a classic chain and on top of that last about twice as long.
Furthermore, its efficiency is said to be 98% and the volume during operation is pleasingly quiet at 10 to 15 dB. This speaks for high user comfort in everyday use. Another highlight is the battery. It can be removed. The big advantage of this design decision is that you don’t have to take the whole bike into your home to charge it.
Instead, you simply remove the Samsung-sourced battery and charge it one at a time in your own home, then reinstall it. Once fully charged, the battery is supposed to be able to cover a maximum distance of 100 km. This is a very good value, but experience has shown that it should be taken with a grain of salt. After all, this usually refers to optimal conditions.

ADO Air 28: The perfect all-rounder
Among other things, the hydraulic disc brakes, which are used on both the front and rear wheel, ensure safety. These are reliable and responsive to bring the e-bike to a halt. So that you can always keep an eye on the most important parameters while riding, the manufacturer relies on a 3.5-inch IPS display. A suitable front light is available ex-works, which you can easily activate with the installed bell. However, the bell has even more to offer. Suitable security equipment like an AirTag or smart tags from other manufacturers can be attached to the so-called “Street Wise Bell”.
So if a thief ever tries to tamper with the e-bike or even steal it, you’ll find it again quickly. While we’re on the subject of safety – According to the manufacturer, 28-inch tires should be used, which offer reliable puncture protection. E-bikes are now available in a wide variety of designs. From e-bikes in foldable design to e-mountain bikes, the market offers almost everything. The ADO Air 28 is a practical all-rounder that should feel at home on almost any terrain.
Whether you’re commuting to work every day or taking a weekend bike ride far from the urban pavement. Thanks to the individually adjustable suspension fork, the motorized bike always ensures maximum riding comfort. The frame shape is also intended to provide corresponding comfort. What used to be called a “ladies’ bike” is nowadays also considered a preferred design by many men. Namely, the design now known as the “step-through frame” ensures that both women and men can comfortably climb onto the saddle.
Crowdfunding starts at Indiegogo
It sounds really promising what the project developers have set up with their ADO Air 28. If the e-bike also appeals to you, you are of course welcome to support the campaign on Indiegogo. This starts on August 15, 2023.
