Anthem: Processor Becomes Brake at Full HD Resolution

As reported TechPowerUp in the upcoming Action-Shooters Anthem high-end graphics cards will be slowed down by the processor at Full-HD resolutions. Benchmarks of the as yet unreleased title by Electronic Arts and BioWare show that at least one Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is needed to play in 4K resolutions and maximum details at acceptable frame rates.

As soon as the resolution is reduced to Full-HD, the frame rate no longer limits the graphics card, but mainly the processor. In the benchmark of TechPowerUp with an Intel Core i7 8700k, only small differences in performance were found with three different Nvidia graphics cards. The GeForce RTX 2070 achieved 122 FPS, the GeForce RTX 2080 135 FPS and the current flagship, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 137 FPS. If the resolution is increased to 4K, the frame rates decrease significantly to 46, 57 and 72 FPS. The larger differences arise because the processor is no longer the limiting factor at the higher resolution, but the frame rate is limited by the performance of the graphics card.
