AOC introduces gaming monitor “AGON AG493UCX

With the monitor AGON AG493UCX, AOC presents a truly gigantic model: The screen measures a full 49 inches diagonally.

Exceptional dimensions and special aspect ratio

The curved gaming monitor catches the eye in any case with its extraordinary size. But the aspect ratio of 32:9 or the fact that it is frameless on three sides should also make it stand out from the mass of screens. The target group for this model is clearly ambitious gamers who want to be equipped with professional features. According to the manufacturer, the new AOC model offers them a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a reaction time of one millisecond, a brightness of 550 candela per square meter, DisplayHDR400 or FreeSync premium support. Sharp images are to be ensured thanks to a resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 pixels. The color depth, however, is eight bits. The sRGb color space is covered 121 percent, while the DCI-P3 color space achieves 93 percent coverage. The NTSC coverage is 102 percent.

Connectivity

Features include two HDMI 2.0 ports, DisplayPort 1.4 access and a USB hub that provides three USB A-3.0, one USB C-3.0 and one DisplayPort 1.2 access. A 65-watt power delivery port is also available. According to the AOC, the screen can be used simultaneously with two different computers using a KVM switch, whereby the computers can be controlled with a shared keyboard and mouse set. This option is intended to benefit streamers who use a second PC for live broadcasting.

Ergonomic functions

The display can be adjusted in height by ten centimeters. It can also be tilted in a range between -3.5 and 13.5 degrees and swivelled in a range between -15.5 and 15.5 degrees. It rests on a metal base that provides the necessary support.

Price and availability

The monitor is available immediately. The recommended retail price is 1,089 Euro, although it is currently partly offered at lower prices. However, it is still more expensive than the similarly equipped and equally large model C49RG90 from Samsung.
