Apple Self Service repair program launched in USA

Apple’s iPhone repair program announced at the end of last year has launched in the US. As part of the Apple Self Service repair program, you can now patch up your smartphone yourself. Later this year, the program will then also launch in Europe.

In the US, it is now finally possible to repair your smartphone of the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone SE model series yourself. However, Apple’s Self Service repair program is also expected to come to Europe later in 2022.

In the in-house store for spare parts, more than 200 different components for the smartphones are available, including batteries, speakers, display, camera elements and much more. If you have read the corresponding repair instructions there, you can order the corresponding parts and tools in the store. The serial number and IMEI of the smartphone always have to be entered.

For 49 US dollars, Apple also provides you with an optional tool kit on loan, which contains all tools to breathe new life into the smartphone. After receiving it, you have one week before the tool kit has to be returned to Apple.

Some devices must be reconfigured on the software side after the repair has been carried out, Apple writes in the additional notes. For this, the support team must be contacted by phone or via chat to initiate the system configuration.

The parts replaced during the repair can also be sent to Apple for professional recycling if desired. Of course, the Apple Self Service repair program is primarily aimed at technology-savvy users. All others should continue to make use of the professional repair service in the Apple stores.
