ARCHOS Oxygen 57, 63 and 68XL Smartphones Announced

The rather small French smartphone manufacturer ARCHOS has announced three new devices in the low-price segment, which are to be launched on the market at the end of May. The presentation will take place during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) at the end of February in Barcelona. According to its own statement, the company wants to reach customers who want a low-cost, yet fast device that doesn’t require excessive high-end features that drive up prices.

The cheapest newly introduced smartphone, the Oxygen 57, appears for only 139.99 Euro. Buyers receive a device with a 5.71-inch display with a resolution of HD+ (1,520 x 720 pixels). The middle model, Oxygen 63, for 169.99 Euro offers a 6.26 inch display with the same resolution. The 6.85-inch Oxygen 68XL for 199.99 Euro also only offers an HD+ resolution of 1,520 x 640 pixels.

The other features of the smartphones are relatively similar. All three announced devices are equipped with an Octa Core processor with separate AI computing unit, VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and VoWiFi (Voice over WiFi) as well as Android 9.0 Pie. The entry-level Oxygen 57 has 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory as well as a 2,800 mAh battery that can be replaced. The Oxygen 63 comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory as well as a removable 3,000 mAh battery. The Oxygen 68XL has a non-replaceable 5,000 mAh battery but only 3 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory.

In addition, all three smartphones have a front camera with 5 megapixel resolution and a dual main camera with 8 megapixels on board. The neat equipment in this price class is rounded off by a fingerprint sensor, a headphone connection as well as gravitational, ambient light and proximity sensors.
