With the new Huawei Mate Xs 2, the Chinese manufacturer has officially announced a successor to the foldable with outward-folding display released in 2020 introduced. The stylish smartphone offers several technical improvements, including a 120 Hz fast OLED panel or a 50 megapixel triple camera.
Huawei Mate Xs 2 unveiled
With the Huawei Mate Xs 2, the manufacturer has unveiled a new edition of the smartphone with an outward-folding display that debuted and differs from devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G just by the folding mechanism.
But the Xs 2 also comes up with some exciting innovations from a technical perspective. While the Foldable does not rely on an inward-facing main display, you can expect an outward-folded OLED panel with a size of 7.8 inches when unfolded. It offers a refresh rate of 120 Hz and comes with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels.
When closed, the display comes to a more manageable size of 6.5 inches, with a resolution of 2480 x 1176 pixels. Another advantage of the outward-folded design is that the fold is supposed to be less visible. In addition, the main camera can thus also be conveniently used for selfie shots.
Three cameras, 4,880 mAh battery, Snapdragon 888
When folded shut, it is thus possible to take pictures on one side, while a live preview of the shots is displayed on the rear part of the screen. Keyword cameras:
Here, the manufacturer relies on a triple camera setup in the Huawei Mate Xs 2, which weighs around 255 grams, consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 13-MP ultra-wide-angle lens and an 8-MP telephoto camera with triple optical zoom and up to 30x digital zoom. A 10-megapixel front-facing camera in a punch hole is also available for video calls.
The Huawei Mate Xs 2 is powered by a Snapdragon 888 SoC from Qualcomm, but only offers 4G connectivity. It is supported by 8 GB or 12 GB of working memory and up to 512 GB of system storage.
