Under the Republic of Gamers (ROG) gaming label, ASUS offers a whole range of high-quality devices, such as the ROG Ally gaming handheld (our test), various headsets and, in future, even a power station in the shape of Thor’s hammer. However, a high-quality microphone has so far been missing from the portfolio. With the ASUS ROG Carnyx, however, this is about to change.
ASUS ROG Carnyx: USB microphone for gamers and streamers
The ASUS ROG Carnyx is aimed at demanding gamers and streamers with its high-quality features. The manufacturer itself describes the device as a professional USB microphone with a cardioid characteristic and a 25 mm condenser capsule, which is designed to produce a convincing sound.
The Carnyx achieves a maximum sampling rate of 24 bit to 192 kHz for a high-resolution sound and has an integrated high-pass filter that reduces low-frequency noises, a built-in pop filter that minimizes noise from plosive sounds and a metal holder with microphone spider.
The rotary control on the front of the microphone, which is available in black or, from the second quarter of 2024, white, allows the volume to be adjusted and mutes the device at the touch of a button.
Natural sound and RGB
The particularly large condenser capsule is designed to provide a natural and rich sound for your own voice, while the cardioid polar pattern minimizes distracting ambient noise from the sides and focuses on your own voice.
The studio-quality high-pass filter suppresses unwanted low-frequency background noise below 80 Hz, effectively filtering out humming and fan noise. The Carnyx also has a 3.5 mm jack connection for real-time monitoring.
As a gaming microphone, RGB lighting is of course a must. Accordingly, the Carnyx has ASUS Aura Sync-compatible lighting that can be synchronized with the rest of the setup. Six effects are already preset and can be customized via the Armoury Crate software. Armoury Crate also offers additional customization options, which can be used to adjust the sound using an equalizer, for example.

Price and availability
The ASUS ROG Carnyx USB microphone is now available in black from retailers and the ASUS webshop. The recommended retail price is 198.90 euros, while Amazon already lists the headset for 180.21 euros.
