Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000: The first WiFi 6E gaming router

ROG has made it its business to deliver uncompromising gaming hardware. With its Rapture GT-AXE11000, Asus’ gaming division now also wants to perfect the Internet connection. Among other things, Tri-Band WiFi 6E is supposed to provide lossless and lightning-fast connections without cables. Those who like it classy can fall back on the 2.5 G WAN/LAN port. But the eye-catching router also seems to have a lot to offer in terms of security.

Rapture fast WiFi 6E

The horrendous price of the Rapture GT-AXE11000 is no coincidence. WiFi 6E in particular was probably decisive in the pricing. After all, the brand-new WiFi standard is trend-setting. But what distinguishes WiFi 6E from the classic WiFi 6? WiFi 6E expands the spectrum by also using the 6 GHz band. ROG thus combines 160 MHz high-speed channels with the usual stability of WiFi 6. A prerequisite for benefiting from WiFi 6E at all is, of course, that you also use a corresponding device as a counterpart. There are currently only a few motherboards that support the standard. Thus, buying the Rapture GT-AXE11000 is more of a safeguard for the future. However, if you have the right device with WiFi 6E available, the gaming router reserves the frequency exactly for it. This way, you can be sure that no interference or the like will limit the stability of the wireless connection.

Furthermore, Asus promises that WiFi 6E is a guarantee for the most power-saving browsing possible. This should not only reduce the computer’s power consumption, but also ensure the longest possible battery runtimes for mobile devices like compatible notebooks or smartphones, according to Asus. The hardware of the Rapture GT-AXE11000 does its part when you take a closer look at the spec sheet. On the one hand, there is the 6 GHz power amplifier. This should be able to provide a stable and high-quality signal. Furthermore, ASUS ROG installs a quad-core CPU, which is supposed to offer 1 GB of RAM in addition to a computing power of 1.8 GHz. The router’s general design is also supposed to provide the best conditions for a fast and lossless Internet. For example, ROG says it has revised the antenna design so that signal transmission is as effective as possible.

Special fan technology

In view of the specs, it can probably be assumed that the Rapture GT-AXE11000 should develop a non-negligible amount of heat over time. The manufacturer is also aware of this. To prevent damage and to keep the performance on a high level, the hardware experts have installed a special case ventilation. This is used on the top, bottom, right and left. Asus ROG promises an optimal interaction between the different vents to ensure a good airflow.

Focus is on gaming

Let’s not kid ourselves. The Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 has clearly been designed with gamers in mind. This is already clear from the monstrous design of the WLAN router. But not only the looks speak for it. The inner workings also make it clear that gaming experts were obviously at work here. On the one hand, there is the three-stage gaming accelerator. This is supposed to reduce ping rates and latencies significantly.  However, the possibility to prioritize individual devices sounds more exciting.

Here, for example, you can focus on game console and gaming PC. The router treats these preferentially during gaming sessions and, according to Asus, prevents other devices on the WLAN from possibly taking up unnecessary power. The VPN Fusion feature also sounds really cool. This is supposed to make it possible to surf or gamble on the web simultaneously with a VPN, but also the conventional Internet connection.

Attention-grabbing design

As is often the case in gaming hardware, the Rapture GT-AXE11000 doesn’t just spill the beans. Of course, the anything but inconspicuous design might not be to everyone’s taste. However, the RGB features sound very good. Thanks to in-house Aura RGB lighting, you should be able to customize the router’s RGB look to your liking. The focus is of course on the ROG logo, which is located on the router’s upper side. Its color can always be assigned to the respective network status. You can make adjustments in the app or web application. So you should always have everything in view.

Safe through the World Wide Web

Of course, Internet security also plays an increasingly important role. Accordingly, Asus ROG also equips its Rapture GT-AXE11000 with some security features. The router comes with “AiProtection Pro powered by Trend Micro”. This regularly equips the device with the latest security signatures and provides a protective shield against classic threats from the net.

Also included are classic settings like blocking certain websites or parental controls. Last but not least, the router also comes with Asus AiMesh. This is especially practical when there are already other Asus routers in the household. The smart home options in particular should then turn out to be diverse.

Price and availability

Are you interested in the ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000? Then you can strike now. However, you should be aware that with an MSRP of 609.95 euros, it’s expensive fun. However, professional gamers and those who want to be may see this as a wise investment. After all, the gaming router has a lot going for it.
