Asus ZenBook 14 Ultralight: High performance, low weight

Asus has presented the ZenBook 14 Ultralight. The flagship is to appear in different versions. The model with the Intel Iris Xe weighs only 980 grams. Those who want more graphics performance with the GeForce MX450 have to accept 15 grams of extra weight.

Asus likes light notebooks

The ZenBook 14 Ultralight is, next to the ExpertBook B9, the second notebook from Asus that weighs less than 1 kg. Despite the low weight, the notebook offers some highlights. You can choose between different versions. However, the basis always remains the same. Thus, you get an almost borderless 14 inch screen, which is resolved in Full HD. Thanks to the IPS panel, this should be able to offer a very stable viewing angle. Regardless of the version, you can also choose between the same equipment options.

Thus with the RAM either 8 or 16 GB are possible. The built-in NVMe-SSD offers different sizes from 256 GB to 1 TB. The buyers have free decision by the way also with the processor. In addition to the powerful Core i7-1165G7, the somewhat weaker Core i5-1135G7 is also possible. Both versions are identical in terms of battery. It offers a capacity of 63 Wh. Last but not least, they don’t differ in the connectivity options. Besides 2x Thunderbolt 4, the notebooks offer a USB-A (3.2 Gen 1) port, a HDMI 2.0 port, a jack connector and a card reader for microSD cards. Wi-Fi 6 is also on board.

Variants differ in graphic power

The ZenBook 14 Ultralight in the version UX435EG offers for the first time a Turing-MX. In particular, Asus includes the brand new GeForce MX450 in this version, which is a premiere not only for Asus, but also for Nvidia. After all, the graphics card expert is using Turing for the first time. Both companies expect a significant performance increase from this. The other variant with Xe-iGPU follows a rather tried and tested path. This graphics chip will not be able to match the new Turing MX, but it should have the same performance as a GeForce MX350.

Price and Release

Asus has revealed many details about the new ZenBook 14 Ultralight. But two important question marks are still outstanding. When and at what price the new lightweight will reach the German market, we do not know yet.
