Audio-Technica ATH-TWX7: in-ears with powerful features and ANC

The flagship ATH-TWX9 in-ear headphones from 2022 are joined by a new, more affordable version from the professionals at Audio-Technica, which nevertheless hardly have to make any compromises in terms of features. The Audio-Technica ATH-TWX7s offer an exciting overall package of ANC, LDAC and good battery life, at least on paper.

The Audio-Technica ATH-TWX7 in detail

With the Audio-Technica ATH-TWX7, the manufacturer has released a new in-ear headphone that uses the same 5.8 mm drivers that are also used in the more expensive ATH-TWX9. Sony’s high-resolution LDAC codec is also included, allowing wireless music streaming in 24-bit quality at 96 kHz at 990 kbit/s.

However, Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and 3D audio are reserved for the more expensive flagship. However, the sound can be adjusted in an equalizer in combination with the companion app.

The elegant design of the TWX7 is available in three colors: Ash Black, Rich White and Stone Grey. With a weight of 4.7 grams per earbud, the new in-ears are also extremely light, which promises a high level of wearing comfort. This is supported by two sets of ear inserts in different degrees of hardness and in four sizes each.

Of course, the in-ears also offer active noise cancellation (ANC) and a transparency mode. The talk-through function also promises to amplify voices and announcements, while the soundscape function comes with sounds for relaxation, meditation or concentration. MEMS microphones should ensure good sound quality during phone calls, while the Audio-Technica ATH-TWX7 are also protected against splash water in accordance with IPX4.

According to the manufacturer, the battery life is up to 6.5 hours with active noise canceling and 7.5 hours without ANC. The charging case extends the runtime to 20 hours with and 24 hours without ANC. The case can be charged either via USB Type-C or even wirelessly.
