AVM releases FRITZ!Box 6670 Cable with Wi-Fi 7 and Zigbee

At this year’s ANGA COM, manufacturer AVM presented a new cable router. The FRITZ!Box 6670 Cable relies on Wi-Fi 7 and Zigbee, but does without a 6 GHz band. At the same time, the manufacturer again showed the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro for fiber optics and DSL, which they already presented in March.

FRITZ!Box 6670 Cable brings Wi-Fi 7 to the cable network

Customers with cable connections will get their money’s worth with the FRITZ!Box 6670 Cable. The successor to the 6660 from 2020 relies on fast Wi-Fi 7 and provides powerful WLAN. The 2.5 Gigabit LAN port and four LAN ports also ensure fast data distribution in the home network.

In addition, there are innovative mesh functions, a telephone management system, and a DECT base for smart home applications. The new FRITZ!Box 6670 Cable also supports the Zigbee smart home standard.

In addition to the DECT ULE standard, this allows many other devices to be integrated into the smart home and controlled directly via the FRITZ Box. An update to the Matter standard is planned for the future.

Also included is an integrated TV tuner that can stream the TV signal directly via the router in the WLAN. In terms of design, the new model comes in a white, flat design.

However, it’s a bit of a shame that the particularly fast 6 GHz wireless band will initially only be available in the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro for fiber optics and DSL. The cable model only relies on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
