AVM Showcases New FRITZ! Box Models with Wi-Fi 6 at IFA

AVM uses the IFA 2019 to present three new FRITZ! box models with Wi-Fi 6. The FRITZ!Box models 5550 and 5530 are for fibre optic connections and the 6660 Cable for cable connection. The Wi-Fi 6 standard provides better coverage for WLAN devices, even in dense and busy WLAN environments. In addition, the FRITZ!Box 5550 has the ability to transport the Internet speed over G.fast within a building.

Whether G-PON, XGS-PON or an AON connection is available, does not matter for the new FRITZ!Box. Via Wi-Fi 6, rates of up to 2,400 MBit/s are possible in the 5 GHz band. 600 MBit/s can also be achieved at 2.4 GHz. A 2.5 Gbit/s LAN port is available for the fast home network. Due to the exchangeable fiber optic module, the FRITZ! box also remains future-proof. In addition to the 5550, the 5530 was also presented. Both will be available from 2020 via network operators and retailers.

The next FRITZ! box is the 6660 Cable with support for DOCSIS 3.1 and DOCSIS 3.0. This allows it to be used in all German and European cable networks. Again Wi-Fi 6 is offered, as well as a LAN connection with 2.5 GBit/s. The FRITZ!OS also enables a mesh network in which the 6660 acts as the master. Cordless telephones can be easily connected as a DECT base is integrated. Functions such as a media server or NAS management make the FRITZ Box 6660 Cable the perfect media server.
