Balcony power plant: New solar package to make it more attractive

With a so-called balcony power plant, residents of an apartment can also use the sun as a source of energy. The traffic light coalition apparently also likes the concept. Among other things, it now apparently wants to increase the attractiveness of mini PV systems with a solar package.

Reducing bureaucracy and increasing performance

More and more house residents are relying on self-generated electricity for a large part or possibly all of their energy supply. This is possible with a large-scale PV system on the roof of the home. But what about those who do not have their own roof, but only a balcony or a small roof terrace?

They can also generate and then use electricity with the help of a balcony power plant. And compact PV systems are booming. This can be seen from the rising sales figures. This is not only good news for the environment, but also for politicians. In Berlin, the obvious boom is now being further promoted as part of the so-called solar package.

The aim is to reduce bureaucracy and speed up the process of getting your own balcony power plant. In future, it will no longer be necessary to notify the grid operator. Instead, it should be sufficient for the system to be registered in the Federal Network Agency’s data register. Furthermore, the mini PV systems are to offer more power and existing meters may continue to be used.

Decision in the coming week

The new rules of the solar package will not only have a positive effect on balcony power plants. Traditional PV systems will also be covered by the upcoming package. Among other things, there will be new subsidies to create incentives for interested parties. However, it is not yet clear whether the solar package will actually be implemented in its current phase.

Instead, the Bundestag must first decide on the extensive package next week. After that, it still depends on the approval of the Bundesrat. However, it can be assumed that the decision will be positive in both cases. So anyone currently thinking about installing a balcony power plant or a PV system should definitely keep an eye on the whole thing.
