Balcony power station: Anker Solix Solarbank 2 series announced

Balcony power plants are currently experiencing a real hype. They make it possible to collect solar energy even without a large roof area. Anker Solix is one of the most popular brands. Now the second generation of smart solar and storage solutions has been presented with the Anker Solix Solarbank 2.

Anker Solix Solarbank 2 comes in three versions

The Solarbank 2 series consists of a total of three models. The Anker Solix Solarbank 2 Pro is the flagship model. Here you get four MPP trackers, each offering an output of 600 watts. Ultimately, this results in a total output of 2,400 watts. This enables the connection of four solar modules.

To ensure that the power generated does not go to waste, Anker Solix naturally also offers suitable additional batteries with a stackable design. With the maximum of five batteries, you can then put together a storage system of up to 9.6 kWh. This is a considerable value, which is not only available in the Pro version.

The Solarbank 2 Plus should also have this much memory. Of course, Anker does not use lithium-ion technology for the storage itself, which is now considered obsolete. Instead, LiFePO4 batteries are used, which not only score points for their longevity but also for their safety. According to the manufacturer, they should have a service life of over 15 years.

Integrated inverter and smart measuring system

Above all, Anker Solix emphasizes the user-friendliness of the new balcony power plant. And that starts with commissioning. According to the manufacturer, it should take just two hours to set up the system completely. One of the reasons for this is that the inverter is not separate. Instead, it is directly integrated into the Anker Solix Solarbank 2 Plus and Pro.

This not only saves time and cable clutter. It also significantly simplifies installation so that, according to Anker, no prior knowledge is required to set up the balcony power station. The first generation of the balcony power station(RS40P in the test and Solarbank E1600 in the test) already scored points with its outstanding build quality. And the company clearly does not want to make any compromises with the next series either.

For example, a robust aluminum body is used, which is protected against water and dirt according to the IP65 standard and should be able to operate without any problems at temperatures between -20 and 55°C. In addition to the inverter, the device also contains smart meters. These ensure that the electricity is used as efficiently as possible and stored in the Anker Solix SolarBank 2 Pro.

Prices and availability

The second generation of balcony power stations from Anker Solix is clearly set to be even better than its predecessor. According to the manufacturer, you should be able to save up to 934 euros a year with the Anker Solix SolarBank 2 series (at 40 ct/kWh). If you already know that you want to install the manufacturer’s new balcony power plant in your home, you can benefit from an attractive discount for early birds. You must register in advance on the Anker Solix website by May 21, 2024.

Then there is not only a 22 percent discount on purchases made between May 22 and 28, 2024. There will also be a free smart meter and a 50 euro voucher for accessories on top. Buyers of the Anker Solix Solarbank 2 Pro will also receive a foldable solar panel worth 79.99 euros as a gift with purchases on the first two days. Final prices for the balcony power stations are not yet available. According to Anker Solix, these will be released directly at the launch on May 22, 2024.
