The microphones of the beyerdynamic M series enjoy enormous popularity among professional musicians. At the NAMM Show, the manufacturer presented a new edition of the microphones, which, however, is still quite a while in coming.
Microphones of the beyerdynamic M series get facelift
“Legends such as Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and Phil Collins have already immortalized their own sound for all time with the M Series microphones. In addition to the greats of rock and pop history, today’s generation of audio professionals also relies on the transducers from Heilbronn,” reads the announcement from beyerdynamic.
Now the beyerdynamic M series gets a Facelit missed and should score with an excellent sound quality and high-quality workmanship. The entire production and manufacturing process has been optimized, but one does not want to have changed anything in the valued sound: the natural sound and directivity is retained.
“Our two double ribbon microphones – the M 160 and the M 130 – are particularly difficult to manufacture”, explains Thorsten Bender, production manager at beyerdynamic. Currently, he says, only a few employees are even capable of manufacturing microphones like the M 160.
Specifically, the beyerdynamic M Series includes the M 88, M 160, M 130, M 201, MC 930, MC 950 and MM 1 models, so they are now being reissued. The optimized production method of the microphones also allows for improved serviceability.
