Beyerdynamic presents two new gaming headsets

Beyerdynamic’s MMX 150 and MMX 100 are two exciting new gaming headsets. Compared to their predecessors, the wired headphones and microphone are supposed to convince especially in terms of price.

Gaming sound for under 130 euros

Actually, Beyerdynamic regularly positions itself in the upper class in terms of price and is not exactly known for launching inexpensive headphones or headsets. With the MMX 150 and MMX 100, this is now to change. Thus, the German sound professionals now want to come up with an extremely fair value for money, which should not exactly please the competition.

The MMX 100 represents the more affordable gaming headset of the two upcoming models. It is supposed to cost just 99 euros and can offer a lot in return. For an RRP of 129 Euro, the MMX 150 starts. While both headsets hardly differ optically from each other, one finds in detail nevertheless points, which justify the price difference.

You can buy both models in either black or white. The choice of materials is also identical. Thus, Beyerdynamic relies on a combination of aluminum and artificial leather for both headsets. The soft memory foam is also supposed to provide a high wearing comfort. According to the manufacturer, hours of gaming should thus not be a problem.

USB vs. jack

One difference that should justify the higher price of the MMX 150 is the USB-C connection. Beyerdynamic actually installs a sound card in the more expensive model, which is supposed to provide an even rounder sound. In contrast, you connect the MMX 100 to your computer via a classic 3.5 mm jack cable. Both USB and jack cables can be detached. Cable breaks do not necessarily lead to the purchase of a new headset.

Powerful drivers

The drivers also have the same features. Both headset feature 40 mm drivers, which are supposed to provide a very special gaming sound. This usually means that highs and lows are very present to ensure good opponent location just as well as an action-packed presentation. Beyerdynamic states that both headphones can cover a frequency range between 5 and 30,000 Hz.

To enable promising team communication, the company continues to rely on a cardioid condenser microphone, which goes by the promising name of “Meta Voice”. The buttons on the headsets are supposed to ensure ease of use. Besides the volume control, there is also a mute button. While the MMX 100 relies on two separate control units, the MMX 150 has a multifunctional input field.

Transparency mode in the MMX 150

On top of that, the MMX 150 features a transparency mode. Called “Augmented Mode” in Beyerdynamic’s world, this mode makes it easier to hear outside sounds. This is supposed to offer the MMX 150 the advantage of being able to hear one’s own voice better and thus better understand one’s own communication with team members.
