Audio-Technika ATH-M20xBT: New wireless over-ear presented

The sound experts from Audio-Technika have introduced a new wireless over-ear headphone. The ATH-M20xBT is supposed to be a pair of Bluetooth headphones with high endurance and sound quality. We take a look at what the company promises.

M Series as a role model

Connoisseurs of Audio-Technika will immediately recognize that the successful M series has quite obviously been the model for the ATH-M20xBT. At least the wireless newcomer clearly reminds of the older siblings with cable connection in terms of design. Despite the lack of a cable, the manufacturer promises a rich hi-fi sound that doesn’t have to hide from the competition. With a battery life of up to 60 hours, the new headphones from Audio-Technika should even leave many competitors behind. On top of that, the ATH-M20xBT is supposed to be a true all-rounder, if you believe the manufacturer’s words. After all, Audio-Technika says that you should have plenty of fun with the Bluetooth headphones both in the music studio and on the go.

High-quality workmanship meets 40 mm drivers

There’s no doubt that the ATH-M20xBT are chic. How they feel in the hands and especially on the ears, however, remains to be seen. But here, too, the manufacturer shows itself almost exuberant. High-quality materials are not only supposed to ensure durability. The company, which was founded in Japan, also promises to have placed a great deal of emphasis on effective noise shielding during the design – essential for over-ears without Active Noise Cancelling (ANC). The inner values also seem to be right, at least on paper.

Thus, one 40 mm driver per earcup is used here, which is supposed to be able to cover everything from clear highs to deep basses. Gamers will also be interested in Audio-Technika’s integrated low-latency mode. This is supposed to play picture and sound as synchronously as possible when gaming or watching a movie. Another promising feature is multipoint pairing. This enables smooth switching between different Bluetooth sources. With the ATH-M20xBT, up to two different sources should be possible at the same time.

Astonishing staying power

An impressive value on the data sheet of the ATH-M20xBT is the battery life. Greed gives manufacturer Audio-Technika an impressive 60 hours. Thanks to fast charging via the USB-C port, you are supposed to get three more hours of playtime after just ten minutes of charging. The over-ear headphones are operated via the control panel on the left ear cup. Here is also the microphone, which allows telephoning.

Price and Availability

The promising Audio-Technika ATH-M20xBT is available now from the manufacturer’s official website at an MSRP of 89.00 euros.
