The ANC flagship from the sound experts Bowers & Wilkins is to receive a special edition. Carbon fibers will give the PX7 an even more noble design.
Flagship in a new look
The PX7 is a visually updated version of the popular headphones with active noise cancelling (ANC). The design focuses mainly on the color black. But carbon fiber composite materials provide a modern and very special look. Bowers & Wilkins has also added a visual innovation to the ear cushions. There are now diamond-cut details. With a weight of 302 grams, the PX7 in the Carbon Edition weighs 8 grams less than its predecessor. This is probably due to the light carbon.
As far as features are concerned, again not much has changed. The new version also comes with customizable ANC. Using the app from Bowers & Wilkins you can adjust the noise reduction to the current ambient noise. The practical transparency mode is also available in the new edition. With this function you can amplify ambient noise. This is especially helpful in conversations or loudspeaker announcements. Another convenient feature is the automatic stopping and starting of the music playback when you put the headphones on or take them off. Proximity sensors are used here.
Hardware remains the same
A look at the drivers of the Carbon Edition makes it clear that not much has changed. Why should it? After all, the standard version of the PX7 already offered a first-class sound. Bowers & Wilkins once again uses a driver with a diameter of 43.6 mm. As connection standard the manufacturer sets again on Bluetooth 5.0, which is to provide in combination to aptX Adaptive for loss-free and high-quality music rendition. In addition the audio codecs SBC and AAC are supported. Thanks to the high-class connection HiRes audio is supposed to be possible. Also the battery life is the same as the standard version. Thus the Bowers & Wilkins PX7 should be able to last up to 30 hours. Thanks to the practical quick-charging function, 15 minutes of charging time are already enough to provide 5 hours of music playback.
Price and availability
Fans of Bowers & Wilkins will soon be able to enjoy the pretty carbon edition of the PX7. But you’ll have to dig deep into your pockets for that. For a UVP of 399 Euro they should be available. The PX7 is available in the colors silver and grey. If the new carbon look is not important to you, you can buy the standard version for just under 80 euros less.
