Cambridge Audio MXN10 and AXN10: New network players offer new possibilities

With the Cambridge Audio MXN10 and AXN10, the manufacturer known for its high-quality audio products has introduced two new network players that add new streaming capabilities to a home hi-fi system and boast convenient operation.

Cambridge Audio MXN10 and AXN10 unveiled

The inventors of “Great British Sound” are bringing their StreamMagic app to home hi-fi systems with the new Cambridge Audio MXN10 and AXN10 network players. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a model from the manufacturer’s AX series or a system from other suppliers. Only digital and analog inputs must be present.

The new devices from Cambridge Audio not only support streaming services such as Spotify, Qobuz, Deezer and Tidal with the respective protocols. Thanks to compatibility with all major universal protocols such as Apple Airplay 2, Google Chromecast, Bluetooth 5.0, UPnP and roon ready, there are almost endless possibilities to get the music to the system.

The in-house StreamMagic app combines convenient operation of all desired digital sources, including Internet radio and playback of local data from USB data carriers or from the in-house network. In addition, both network players feature built-in dual-band Wi-Fi for completely wireless playback.

MXN10 combines variety with convenience

The Cambridge Audio MXN10 relies on a compact format and comes with a built-in power supply, RJ45 LAN port, and multiple antennas for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It is just 21.5 centimeters wide and offers a chic design with its matte front panel in Lunar Grey.

Analog jacks according to RCA/Cinch standard are available as outputs, but the MXN10 also provides digital S/PDIF signals in optical or coaxial form. This means that hi-fi systems that only have digital outputs can also make use of the network player’s streaming capabilities.

With a width of 43 centimeters, the Cambridge Audio AXN10 is already significantly larger. It also relies on an aluminum front in Lunar Gray color, but has the additional advantage of having the ESS Sabre ES9033Q D/A converter chip, which enables Ultra HiRes music streams up to PCM 768/32 and DSD512 on hi-fi systems.

Companion app offers more convenience

The manufacturer’s StreamMagic is used as a companion app, integrated into the two new streamers in the fourth generation. The free app is available for iOS and Android in the corresponding app stores.

It not only enables convenient streaming of locally stored music from UPnP devices, but also connects to streaming services like Spotify, Qobuz, Deezer and Tidal, as well as a wealth of Internet radio stations. For access without an app, the preset buttons on the front panel can be assigned to four different radio streams.

Prices and Availability

The two Cambridge Audio MXN10 and AXN10 network players are scheduled to be available in March 2023 from the Cambridge Audio webshop, Cambridge Audio’s Amazon webshop, and retailers.

Prices start from a recommended retail price of 499.00 euros for the MXN10, while the larger AXN10 has an MSRP of 599.00 euros.
