CES 2022 cancellations: Nvidia, Twitter, T-Mobile, Amazon and many more are not there

CES 2022 in Las Vegas is supposed to open the new technology year at the beginning of January. However, many large manufacturers like Nvidia, T-Mobile or Amazon have already canceled their participation. Even big US tech websites like The Verge and Engadget are not there. The reason: the omicron variant of COVID-19.

CES 2022 participant field thins out

CES 2022 in Las Vegas will be significantly smaller than initially expected. The reason for this is once again the omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus. After U.S. President Joe Biden recently called for further containment of the spread, many manufacturers and media websites jumped ship without further ado.

Moreover, this is likely just the beginning. Especially since media representatives like The Verge and Engadget published hundreds of exclusive articles about the innovations as selected partners of the trade show in the past years, CES threatens to lose attention in the coming year.

Even T-Mobile as one of the main sponsors will not hold the planned keynote. They are joined by companies such as Nvidia, Twitter, T-Mobile, Amazon, Meta and Pinterest, which will not be represented at CES 2022.

Presentations have been recorded

Moreover, this could be just the tip of the iceberg; other manufacturers and brands could also cancel their participation in the coming days. However, most of the content will still be available to see in the form of pre-recorded presentations.

Only the trade show on the floor of the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino could thus fall into the water. While the operators are still optimistic, a cancellation is therefore probably imminent.
