Chieftec presents the improved Chieftronic M2

Chieftec has introduced an improved version of its Chieftronic M1, the M2 has not only been optimized in terms of cooling performance, but also the design has received an upgrade.

New front, better cooling

The previously known wing design of the Chieftronic also remains the new version, the M2. However, the front here has been completely redesigned. The front is less restrictive and has received a wide mesh strip centered to the already existing side air intakes. A mesh grille has also been used on the top instead of the previous glass panel to provide better heat dissipation. Two 120 mm fans or a 240 mm radiator can be placed under the grille. In addition, fans can be integrated at the front and rear. Thus, a total of three 120-mm or 140-mm fans find their place at the mentioned locations. Thus, up to five fans can be integrated in the entire case.

Not only the design but also the scope of delivery of the fans has been adjusted. Until now, you only got one fan when buying the M1, now you get three when buying the new Chieftronic M2. Here, the RGB lighting of the fans is configured and controlled via the included controller.

Basic framework remains

Chieftec leaves the basic framework of the Chieftronic as is, so the hardware continues to be distributed over two levels within the Micro-ATX case. The power supply and HDDs are located in the lower area and the motherboard is placed horizontally above. As far as cooling and graphics cards are concerned, there is a lot of space in the M2, so they can be used in unlimited sizes. Here, no available hardware exceeds the installation possibilities of the Chieftronic M2 at the moment. Still, it looks like there is a limit in height for the CPU cooler, with a maximum of 175 mm possible here. This is due to the location of the fan underneath the lid. If you use a normal fan, 150 mm remain here and with a slim fan you still have 160 mm available.

On the port side, the Chrieftronic M2 has two USB 3.0 (USB 3.2 Gen 1), two USB 2.0 and one HD audio port. In terms of dimensions, the micro-ATX case measures 398 × 273 × 355 mm (L × W × H), giving it a total volume of 38.57 liters.

It is still unknown when the new Chieftec Chieftronic M2 will be out and at what price the case will be available.
