Disney takes action against account sharing from June

Disney plans to start taking measures against account sharing and password sharing as early as June, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed in an interview with CNBC. Initially, however, only in a few countries that have not been explicitly named.

From September, the measures will then be extended to the global market, Iger continued. It is also not known how Disney intends to take action against account sharing. However, the measures are likely to be similar to those taken by Netflix:

Here, all devices must regularly log in via the network of the home location and thus verify that the users are in the same household.

Disney to get better

In the interview, Iger also mentioned other interesting details for Disney subscribers or those who want to become subscribers. The streaming service is set to improve in the future and offer new content.

For example, the recommendations for series and films are to be improved, while local productions from the user’s country are to be highlighted. Content from Hulu and 20th Century Fox will also help to further compete with Netflix.

Overall, the company hopes to continuously increase the number of users of its own service. Netflix has seen a significant increase in new accounts following the introduction of measures against account sharing. However, the service has been losing users for some time now, mainly due to the massive increase in prices.
