The DreamHack planned for 2021 does not come in the sixth edition nevertheless to Leipzig. Due to the Corona Pandemic and the situation associated with it, the game festival has now been cancelled.
No DreamHack in Leipzig 2021
At the beginning of this year the fifth game festival was held in Leipzig. This year it was one of the biggest game and computer events with more than 23,000 visitors. For 2021 the DreamHack in Leipzig was originally planned again. Unfortunately, this was now cancelled due to hygiene measures that were difficult to enforce. The festival was supposed to take place from January 22 to 24, 2021. But the expected streams of visitors would not have been manageable with the measures that had been established. Furthermore, it cannot be guaranteed that the international e-sports teams will be able to travel to the planned tournaments.
Online solution
The organizers are now thinking about an online solution. As already with the beginnings of the DreamHack before over 25 years. The DreamHack began as LAN party with a group of friends. Therefore on-line tournaments are to be offered, which take place in the small friend circle then decentralized. Participants can look forward to an exciting online event through the DreamHack Leipzig. Apart from your own apartment or house, this can also be places like gaming bars, e-sports camps or hackerspaces. First addresses of cooperating locations in Krefeld and Berlin have already been mentioned here. Here gamers can then participate in the tournaments with their clans and other gamers from all over Germany. In addition, there will also be additional offers from partners of the “Home Edition”. This will then run under the motto “DreamHack Leipzig – Home Edition”.
Already as exclusive DreamStore partner on board is Caseking. It is to be found suitably to the Event mad hardware offers in on-line Store. Also the eSport-Bund Deutschland e.V. (ESBD) and the Uniliga will also be present with program items in the Home Edition. Even the biggest clans of the past DreamHack in Leipzig have already confirmed their participation. These are 404 Multigaming e.V. with 165 members and Reactor Squad with 120 members. A couple of venues have already been confirmed, these are LVL-Berlin, the 1337 Camp and TaKe’s Gaming Bar. So we remain excited about a great online event of the “DreamHack Leipzig – Home Edition”. For 2022 the DreamHack Leipzig is planned from 28th to 30th January 2022 and will then be celebrated as usual at the Leipzig Fair.
