If you are looking for a compact, light and powerful ultrabook, you should take a closer look at the new Dynabook Portégé X40L-K, which the manufacturer has now revealed. It combines a 16:10 display with a fast Intel Alder Lake-P CPU and only weighs around one kilogram.
Dynabook Portégé X40L-K: Light and powerful
The case of the new Dynabook Portégé X40L-K ultrabook is 15.9 millimeters thin, weighing in at just 1.04 kilograms. In addition, the notebook has been certified according to military standard MIL-STD-810H, which should make it particularly robust. Even the battery capacity of 65 Wh is comparatively large for this category.
The Portégé X40L-K also has a lot to offer technically. The manufacturer installs an Intel Alder Lake-P CPU with a TDP of 28 watts. Specifically, the Intel Core i7-1280P is used, which combines six performance cores and eight efficiency cores. The clock rate is 4.8 GHz. The integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics unit is used as the graphics solution.
16:10 display and up to 32 GB RAM
In addition, there is up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a PCIe SSD with 1 TB capacity. The display of the Dynabook Portégé X40L-K is a 14-inch IPS panel in 16:10 format with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels.
The top model of the Protégé series is also versatile in terms of connectivity. Two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, Gigabit LAN, HDMI, a 3.5 mm jack and an SD card reader are offered. The fast Wi-Fi 6E network standard is also supported. In addition, there are four speakers and an IR webcam with face recognition. Windows 11 Pro is already preinstalled as the operating system.
Portégé X30L laptop and Portégé X30W 2-in-1 convertible
Besides the top model, there are two other compact notebooks, the Portégé X30L Laptop and Portégé X30W 2-in-1 Convertible, which are also equipped with an Intel Alder Lake-P CPU and share many features with the X40L-K.
However, 13.3 inch displays are used here, which are also offered as touchscreens on request. The touch panel of the convertible is also equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass to prevent scratches and scratches. A digital ink pen from Wacom is already included with the Portégé X30W.
Prices and availability
The Dynabook Portégé X40L-K, Portégé X30L, and Portégé X30W 2-in-1 Convertible will all be released in April 2022, although only in the US for now. The X40L-K has an MSRP of $1,799.99 there. The X30L is available from $1,379.99, and the convertible Portégé X30W from $1,599.99. The manufacturer has not yet revealed the market launch and prices for Europe.
