With the Huawei FreeBuds 5, the Chinese tech company introduces a new pair of headphones. The compact in-ears come in an eye-catching design that is supposed to ensure high wearing comfort. Technically, the manufacturer wants to score with High Res Audio and a battery life of up to 30 hours.
Huawei FreeBuds 5 in double C design
In terms of design, the new FreeBuds 5 are a real eye-catcher. After all, they don’t come in the classic in-ear look. Rather, they snake curvilinearly from the inner ear to the jawbone. According to Huawei, this is not just for aesthetic reasons. The Chinese tech company also wants to ensure high wearing comfort for the user. According to the manufacturer, ergonomic simulations and numerous optimizations have been carried out. The result is headphones that are supposed to adapt perfectly to the contours of the ears.
By shaping it into a double-C, the company also hopes to distribute the pressure evenly. This should provide greater comfort, especially when operating on the headphones themselves. On top of that, the slightly different design is said to ensure that the speakers, battery and control board could be placed separately from each other, which should ensure a cleaner sound. The pair of headphones is also said to have a few exciting technical highlights to offer. The dynamic ultra-magnetic driver is supposed to provide a great sound. Rich lows are supposed to be created by the Bass Turbo technology. Up to 16 Hz should be possible.
And this is where a clear advantage over the predecessor becomes apparent. Huawei speaks of a 30 percent higher frequency response than in the previous generation. A triple adaptive equalizer is also on board. This is supposed to optimize the sound in real time. According to Huawei, the headphones adapt individually to each ear canal and make the corresponding sound settings. Furthermore, the Huawei FreeBuds 5 support the modern codecs L2HC and LDAC and also offer certification for Hi-Res Audio Wireless.

Active noise cancellation and fast charging
Also on board is of course an active noise cancellation (ANC). This is provided by three built-in microphones that not only block out distracting ambient noise. They are also used when making calls. The DNN algorithm is also supposed to ensure that your call partner is not disturbed by annoying ambient noise during calls. A fast charging function is also on board. Five minutes of charging time should be enough to provide two hours of music enjoyment. The complete charging time is also said to have improved significantly. Huawei speaks of an increase of 200 percent.
