Huawei Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro introduced

At its Munich event, Huawei presented some exciting upcoming technology highlights. With the Huawei Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro, two smartwatches will soon be on the market that are supposed to monitor your vital signs. In this way, the tech giant wants to appeal to health-conscious people and athletes in particular.

Once again, a smartwatch from Huawei

It is quite amazing how many smartwatches Huawei now has in the pipeline or already on sale. With the Huawei Watch 4 and the matching Pro model, two more models are now launched. These are, so to speak, the successors of the smartwatches from the GT-3 series. The differences between the standard and Pro models are, on the one hand, the choice of materials. While the Watch 4 comes in classic stainless steel, Huawei relies on a titanium case for the Pro. The straps of the Pro model are made of leather or titanium, whereas the standard model is made of rubber or fluroelastomer.

On top of that, the Watch 4 Pro is 2 mm larger than the standard version at 48 mm in diameter. Divers will be pleased to know that both smartwatches are supposed to be surprisingly waterproof. Depths of up to 30 meters are said to be possible without any problems. However, the resistance is not only against penetrating water. High-quality sapphire glass is supposed to prevent annoying scratches on the LTPO AMOLED. A software highlight that Huawei emphasizes is the new animated background images in the form of planets. These are to be joined by other new themes.

More new launches from Huawei:

Huawei Watch 4 with lots of health features

The Chinese technology company is, of course, going with the trend of other manufacturers and is giving its new Watch 4 series lots of features to monitor vital signs. For example, the smartwatch is supposed to alert its wearer when the pulse deviates conspicuously from the norm. On top of that, Apple’s well-known fall detection has been introduced. If the watch detects a suspected fall, an ambulance can be called at the push of a button. The other sensors are also impressive. For example, the ECG feature apparently offers a measurement of the arteries. If that should work, the smart watch could almost be a kind of early warning system for heart attacks.

If you want to live a healthy life, you naturally can’t avoid sports. Therefore, it is not surprising that Huawei again implements many different sports modes. Everyone should be able to find what they are looking for in the more than 100 disciplines. The AI Running Coach sounds exciting. It analyzes your body’s vital signs during a jogging session and gives you corresponding training tips. This should be very useful for newcomers in particular. The Pro model is again clearly ahead in terms of battery life, which is certainly due to the larger casing. With up to four and a half days, it is supposed to last one and a half days longer than the standard model. Those who use the energy-saving mode should even get 21 days or 14 days of battery life.

Prices and Availability

Pre-ordering of the two smartwatches is possible from June 8, 2023. Thereby, the Huawei Watch 4 is available for 449 euros. For the Pro model, the prices vary between 549 euros with a leather strap and 699 euros with a titanium strap. The two smart watches will be available in stores from June 22, 2023.
