Huawei MateBook 16s and MateBook X Pro presented for 2023
During an event, Huawei presented two new models of its popular MateBook series. These are the Huawei MateBook X (2023) and the MateBook 16s (2023). The technical specs speak for true computing power in a mobile format.
Huawei MateBook series jumps into the year 2023 with power
The two upcoming notebooks from Huawei serve several purposes at once. The MateBook 16s is a mobile PC that feels particularly at home in the business sector. Despite its 16-inch screen, the notebook is also quite light at less than 2 kg, which makes it convenient to move it back and forth between the office and home office. Speaking of the screen. This one has a surprisingly high resolution of 2,520 x 1,680 pixels. The refresh rate of 60 Hz on the other hand is only solid, but should be more than sufficient for office users. Under the hood is a powerful Intel Core i9-13900H processor. This in turn is supported by 16 GB of RAM. The internal SSD offers a generous 1 TB of storage. A decisive difference between the MateBook 16s and MateBook X can be seen at first glance. And this clearly concerns the size. The X model comes with a mere 14.2 inches.
Despite the smaller screen, the resolution of 3220×280 pixels is higher. The same applies for the refresh rate, which is 90 Hz. But that is not the end of the differences between the two notebooks. Furthermore, the MateBook X Pro offers a special display coating. This should not only prevent annoying reflections from the sun. It is also supposed to protect the screen from scratches. The innards are also a bit different. You can select an Intel Core i7-1360P as a maximum for the MateBook X Pro. There are also similarities in the memory. Besides 16 GB of RAM, there is also 1 TB of internal storage. Huawei’s in-house Metaline technology sounds exciting. This is supposed to provide the two notebooks with crystal-clear reception of WiFi networks.
More new launches from Huawei:
Huawei MateBook offers turbo mode for certain moments
Furthermore, Huawei spends the two MateBooks a kind of Nitro. In Super Turbo 2.0 mode, the two devices then get a noticeable performance boost. The user should not only feel this in the form of a faster system start. Performance-hungry applications like image or video editing should also open faster. It is questionable whether the general performance will also benefit when using these applications. The Chinese tech company also emphasizes the charging capabilities. The two Huawei MateBook 2023 models are supposed to charge particularly fast. A maximum of 135 watts is said to be possible for the MateBook 16s. That is really a remarkable value.
The MateBook Pro X should charge no less weakly. According to Huawei, just ten minutes of charging should be enough to recharge the battery for a total of two hours of work. The hybrid approach also applies to the webcam. Of course, it is also equipped with an AI camera. It automatically integrates backgrounds with the help of artificial intelligence. It also offers features like automatic tracking of the filmed person. According to Huawei, the camera function should also be able to simulate that the user maintains permanent eye contact with the other person. The Chinese tech company promises compatibility with popular programs like Microsoft Teams or Zoom in this regard.
Prices and availability
Huawei fans won’t have to wait much longer until the two new MateBooks are launched. They should be available from June 1, 2023. The prices make it clear that these are real flagships. The Huawei MateBook 16s is to be launched at an MSRP of 1,799 Euros. The Chinese will charge a proud 2,199 Euros for the X Pro.
