After the Swedish furniture store Ikea presented an inexpensive smart socket just a few days ago, the next new launch follows in the footsteps of Anker, UGREEN and Co. because Ikea Sjöss is a USB-C charger with 45 watts of power that aims to impress above all with its low price.
Ikea Sjöss presented
There’s not too much to say about the Ikea Sjöss. The new product in the Swedish manufacturer’s line-up has two USB-C ports and achieves a maximum charging speed of 45 watts. When two devices are connected, the power is divided into two 22 watts.
The USB-C charger is compatible with Power Delivery (PD 3.0), Quick Charge (QC4 ) and Programmable Power Supply (PPS) and its charging power is of course primarily aimed at smartphones, in-ear headphones and other smaller devices. However, it can of course also be used to charge more powerful devices such as tablets or notebooks.
Sjöss has a simple polycarbonate design and, with dimensions of 6 cm x 9 cm x 4 cm (width x length x height) and a weight of around 130 grams, is pleasantly compact and light. Thanks to its horizontal arrangement, the Sjöss does not block the socket next to it, which is often the case with many larger models.
The charger’s safety mechanisms include overcurrent protection, a short-circuit protection circuit and overheating protection.
Price and availability
The Ikea Sjöss is now available on the Ikea website and in furniture stores. The charger scores points above all with its low price, as it costs just 14.99 euros. Unusual: The manufacturer includes several stickers in green, orange and blue with the device, which can be used to personalize the device.
