Jabra Elite 3 and Elite 7: Three new TWS headphones unveiled

Manufacturer Jabra has introduced three new, exciting true-wireless headphones that are supposed to herald the new era of the in-house Elite series and build on the know-how from six product generations now. The Jabra Elite 7 Pro, Elite 7 Active and Elite 3 are designed to cater to very different users.

The Jabra Elite 7 models at a glance

For those who like to power out, the Jabra Elite 7 Active will do the trick. The new TWS in-ear headphones are aimed primarily at athletes and feature IP57 certification for protection against dust, contact, and water and moisture ingress.

A new type of liquid silicone coating (called “ShakeGrip”) is said to ensure optimal wearing comfort and grip, without restricting freedom of movement. They feature active noise cancellation (ANC) and are said to offer extensively customizable sound with the help of MySound. Jabra also provides the Elite 7 Active with a transparency mode (“HearThrough function”).

In addition, the manufacturer talks about a maximum usage time of up to 35 hours in combination with the charging case. The in-ear headphones themselves last, with active noise cancellation, for a maximum of 9 hours.

The connection to the smartphone is made via Bluetooth 5.2, and the respective integrated voice assistant is also supported, as is Amazon’s Alexa. A multipoint functionality for simultaneous connection of two audio sources, as well as the option to also use individual headphones, Jabra wants to add after the release.

Elite 7 Pro with innovative technology

The new flagship goes by the name Jabra Elite 7 Pro and relies on the brand-new MultiSensor Voice technology. This is intended to achieve superior voice quality during phone calls: a bone-conduction sensor (used to analyze bone sound) is combined with four microphones to shield wind and ambient noise even more effectively. This is to achieve voice transmission by means of the vibrations in the jawbone.

Of course, there is also Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) including transparency mode and a determination of one’s own hearing ability with the help of the MySound hearing test within the Jabra app. Despite the new sensor technology, the Jabra Elite 7 Pro have shrunk further compared to the Elite 75t and are supposed to be almost 16 percent smaller. Both Earbuds weigh in at just 5.4 grams each.

Jabra also puts the battery life of the Elite 7 Pro at a maximum of 35 hours when combined with the charging case, and 9 hours with ANC active. Thanks to Fast Charge, the TWS headphones can be pressure-filled within 5 minutes to play music again for an hour.

Jabra Elite 3: Inexpensive entry-level model

The new Elite 3 form the more affordable entry-level model in Jabra’s new product portfolio. 6-millimeter drivers are used here, which should deliver a decent sound. Four microphones are used for telephony, but there is unfortunately no ANC function (but the HearThrough transparency mode is available).

In return, they support Qualcomm’s high-resolution aptX HD audio codec – a special feature within the price range. IP-55 certification and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity are also on board, as is a mono mode when only one Earbud is used. The battery is also smaller than in the top models: A maximum of seven hours of music enjoyment is possible, and in combination with the charging case, the Jabra Elite 3 get a maximum of 28 hours.
