Lenovo Legion LOQ: Inexpensive entry into PC gaming

Those who decide in favor of a gaming console and against a gaming PC often do so for budget reasons. After all, the well-known PC manufacturers sometimes charge horrendous sums for their gaming machines. Lenovo now wants to simplify the entry into the field of in-house gaming PCs. With the Lenovo Legion LOQ series, the company has now announced a total of two new gaming notebooks and a new PC tower for gamers who do not want to spend a monthly salary for a decent gaming PC.

Lenovo Legion LOQ Gaming Notebooks

Among other things, Lenovo is launching two gaming notebooks in its new LOQ series, each of which is to come in two different sizes. As a buyer, you have the choice between a 15 or 16-inch IPS screen. However, there are not only size differences within the series. Depending on which model you choose, the processor also differs. Thus, an Intel Core i7 13700H is possible in the top configuration. If you prefer AMD, you can opt for an AMD Ryzen 7840HS at most. The processor is supported by up to 16 GB DDR5 RAM.

Either 512 GB or 1 TB are available as storage for games like documents. There is also freedom of choice for the graphics card. However, AMD is left out here. Thus, you can opt for an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 in the top configuration. The casing shows that Lenovo’s Legion LOQ models are the manufacturer’s entry into the gaming world. The aluminum case looks a bit heavier than the Legion Slim models, for example. However, with a maximum weight of 2.6 kg for the 16-inch devices, the LOQ series also offers a more than tolerable weight, which should allow for comfortable transportation.

Lenovo Legion LOQ PC Tower 17

If you don’t value a mobile gaming solution, the LOQ Tower 17 might be the right solution for you. This is a gaming PC in the classic tower format. It does not only come in a stylish, but also in a practical design. According to Lenovo, there is a lot of room for customization and improvements inside. However, it is doubtful whether an upgrade is necessary so quickly in view of the quite solid basic configuration. For example, a 13th generation Intel CPU works under the hood.

A GPU from the Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series is supposed to provide graphics performance here as well. In terms of memory, up to 32 GB of DDR4 RAM is possible. Since experience shows that there is more space in a tower than in a notebook, Lenovo also offers different configurations for the integrated storage. You can not only install a classic hard drive with up to 2 TB or an NVMe SSD with up to 1 TB. On top of that, the manufacturer offers a combination solution that combines SSD and HDD.

Prices and availability

With its LOQ series, Lenovo creates an attractive option to enter the world of PC gaming even with a little less money. In doing so, you won’t have to be patient for long if you’re interested in the notebooks and tower. Lenovo still wants to launch its LOQ gaming notebooks in the second quarter of 2023. The price starts at 1,099 Euros for the Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 with Intel and the Lenovo LOQ 15APH8 with AMD CPU. The two 16-inchers in the form of the LOQ 16IRH8 with Intel and the LOQ 16APH8 with AMD CPU will start at 1,299 Euros. The release of Lenovo’s LOQ Tower, on the other hand, is scheduled a bit closer. You should be able to buy the gaming PC starting at a price of 1,099 Euros in June 2023. More information about Lenovo can be found on the official website.
