With the Lenovo ThinkPad L14 G3 and L15 G3 notebooks, the manufacturer relaunches the two inexpensive enterprise models. Among other things, the third generation presents itself in a slimmer design and weighs less, while the battery capacity and RAM configuration increase.
Lenovo ThinkPad L14 G3 & L15 G3 with strong update
As affordable notebooks in the corporate segment, the Lenovo ThinkPad L14 G3 and ThinkPad L15 G3 notebooks get an update. Presumably for cost reasons, the manufacturer keeps the classic 16:9 display.
The 14-inch display of the L14 is offered with a Full HD resolution including 400 nits brightness and an optional touchscreen. The L15 has a 15.6-inch display with the same specifications and a brightness of 300 nits.
Both notebooks are powered by Intel Core processors of the 12th generation up to Core i7 or AMD Ryzen PRO 5000 chips. The CPU’s internal solution is used for graphics acceleration. However, up to 64 GB of RAM is offered in return, which is supported by up to 1 TB of PCIe SSD storage.
The ThinkPad L14 G3 and L15 G3 are also considerably slimmer and lighter. The dimensions are 325.4 mm x 217 mm x 18.73 mm in the case of the L14 (weight: 1.39 kg), and 360.2 mm x 237 mm x 19.93 mm with a weight of 1.76 kg for the L15 G3, respectively.
Battery capacity and features
As with all ThinkPad models in the 2022 series, the mechanical docking port is omitted from the L14 G3 and L15 G3. However, 1x Thunderbolt 4 (Intel only) or 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (AMD), as well as 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, a SIM card slot, a microSD card slot, 3.5 mm jack, once HDMI 2.0b and an Ethernet port are offered in return. Wi-Fi up to Wi-Fi 6E, 4G LTE and Bluetooth 5.2 are also part of the package.
Progress has also been made in terms of battery capacity. The Lenovo ThinkPad L14 G3 and L15 G3 are available with 42 Wh, 57 Wh and Intel-exclusive even with 63 Wh capacity. All models have a fingerprint sensor, a Full HD webcam including IR function, privacy shutter and Kensington Lock in common.
Prices and availability
The two notebooks, Lenovo ThinkPad L14 G3 and ThinkPad L15 G3, should be available in stores as early as April 2022, at least with an AMD CPU. Variants with an Intel CPU, on the other hand, will be available starting in May 2022. The AMD ThinkPads will be priced at around 870 US dollars, while the Intel counterparts will cost at least 930 US dollars.
