LG Commits to Climate Neutrality by 2030

LG has announced at the Zero Carbon 2030 that it will reduce CO2 emissions by 50 percent by 2030 compared to 2017 and thus develop a sustainable business strategy. The company’s measures include the increased use of renewable energies as well as a number of other options to reduce CO2 emissions. In 2030, a net zero balance is to be achieved in which the company’s CO2 emissions are neutralized by CO2 recovery.

In addition to the renewable energy sources that will contribute to reducing CO2 emissions from almost 2,000,000 tons in 2017 to 960,000 tons by the end of 2030, LG wants to become a climate-neutral company through greater efficiency in its factories and other greenhouse gas reduction technologies.

In addition, it was announced that the solar energy products, chillers and energy management systems (EMS) businesses would be expanded to reduce CO2 emissions both within the company and at customers. In addition, LG wants to secure the purchase of CER certificates (Certified Emission Reduction) by expanding its CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) projects.
